What is the Seventh Amendment?
The Seventh Amendment states that"In suit of common law where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact trial by a jury,shall be otherwise re-examined in any court of the United States than according to the rules of the common law.
In other words...
In other words it means that you can have a jury settle civil cases involving a lot of money once the case is decided it can;t be brought up in another court.
Markman V. Westview
"Markman is the inventor named in and the owner of United States Reissue Patent No. 33,054 (the '054 patent), titled "Inventory Control and Reporting System for Dry cleaning Stores."Markman original patent No. 4,550,246 was reissued and the reissue is the patent in suit. Positek is a licensee under the patent in the dry-cleaning business." Markman sued Westview for infringement of claims 1, 10, and 14 of the '054 patent.
