Oak View Marching Band
Congratulations to all members of the Oak View Middle School Marching Band for performing in the 2024 Anoka Halloween Parades! The band marched in the Big Parade of Little People on October 25th as well as the Grand Day Parade on October 26th . The band received many compliments from the parade officials, community members and parents. This year’s marching selection was “Louie, Louie”. Way-to-go Oak View Marching Band!
Honoring Veterans
From the 6th grade students at Oak View Middle School we wanted to say "Thank you for your sacrifices, for your valor, for the things you carry, for protecting us, and for defending our rights. Thank you to all our veterans for your courage, strength and dedication to keeping us safe."
Notice something NEW at Oak View?
We were very excited to have a new electronic sign installed at Oak View! Our former sign was nearly 30 years old and non-functioning for the last couple of years (imagine the evolution of technology in the last 30 years). Through fundraising efforts over many years, we were able to finally replace the sign late this fall. We are excited to learn all of the new functions and features as we use the sign as one more way to provide general communication. After the winter months, we look forward to adding some landscaping to finalize the space. THANK YOU to current and former Oak View students and their families for their fundraising support over the years!
OVMS Knowledge Bowl
Oak View's Knowledge Bowl students hosted the Knowledge Bowl Kick-off, where over 250 students from around the Twin Cities competed. Oak View won the Spirit Award which is awarded to the students who demonstrated THE BEST sportsmanship. Way to go, Oak View KB Teams!
Check out the Knowledge Bowl Spirit Award trophy in the trophy case outside the Media Center.
Students: If you are interested in joining Knowledge Bowl, we are just beginning our season and all are welcome! We practice on Wednesdays after school until 4:00p in Room 309.
Upcoming Spelling Bee
Oak View will be holding the Annual Spelling Bee on Thursday, January 16th after school in the Oak View Room. Students will take a spelling qualifier in their ELA classes in early December. Your child will be notified via an invitation issued in ELA before Winter Break.
Anoka-Hennepin Student Engagement Survey
As a part of the district’s efforts to engage students in the learning process, schools will be giving the Student Engagement Survey again this year in December in grades 7, 9 and 11. The survey should be administered between December 2nd and December 19th. The survey will be administered online and should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Seventh graders will take the district Student Engagement Survey during adversary on Thursday, Dec. 5. If you have any questions, please contact assistant principal Bob Cahow at 763.506.5622.
Bobcat Den
Oak View Students have a place, after school, to:
- Work on homework
- Get help from a teacher
- Get caught up from being absent
Bobcat Den is located in the Media center
- The Den began in October and ends Thursday, May 29. (No Den on conference nights)
- The Bobcat Den runs Mondays through Thursdays from 3:10p to 4:15p.
- On Tuesdays and Thursdays there is an activity bus students can take home - the bus doesn't depart until 5p (students remain in the media center under supervision). On Mondays and Wednesdays, students will have to arrange their own pick up/transportation home no later than 4:15p (for safety reasons, students will not be allowed to linger in the building after the Den).
- The purpose of the Bobcat Den is to provide a safe, organized place for students to receive additional academic support. Students who are off-task and/or disrupt the opportunity for others will be removed from the Den and may lose the privilege of future participation.
(Students should bring all necessary materials when they report for help.)

Parking Lot Procedure - Student Drop off and Pick up
Our goal is to ensure the safety of all students. In order to do so, we have specific procedures in place for drop-off and pick-up. The student school day is 8:25a-3:05p.
For morning drop off, the doors to the school are open for students at 7:45a to wait in the foyer until the building/hallway doors and cafeteria open at 8:00a. Please do not drop your student off before 7:45a (especially in the upcoming cold months) unless it is prearranged for a club, class or activity. For these scheduled items, the instructor will meet the students for entry at the front entrance per the arrangement.
Due to the large number of vehicles and foot traffic, please understand that the drop-off/pick-up process will take time.
- Please patiently wait in the vehicle line to drop-off/pick-up your student.
- Use the entire curb area, at the main entrance, for pick-up and drop-off. (The first vehicle in line should be almost to the stop sign, not in front of the main entrance.)
- Students need to exit the passenger side of the vehicle onto the sidewalk.
- Do not cut through the middle of the parking lot.
- Students are not to cross traffic to get to vehicles or out of vehicles. (Do not let your student cross the parking lot.)
Several vehicles are able to pick-up or drop-off students simultaneously when utilizing the whole curb, which speeds up the process for everyone.
Winter weather reminders
The safety of all students is the first priority when determining if schools should stay open in adverse weather. If a determination is made to close school due to extreme winter weather, the district will alert families in a variety of ways, including:
Text and email message from #AHSchools. (For parents/guardians only.)
District and school websites.
District and school social media pages (e.g. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
Media outlets including WCCO, KSTP, FOX 9, KARE 11, CCX Media, WCCO radio and Star Tribune newspaper.
Those responsible for activities scheduled in schools over the weekend will determine if adverse weather conditions necessitate a cancellation.
Read more about the district’s policies on extreme winter weather at ahschools.us/weather.
Transportation update
To find your student's bus information follow these step-by-step directions. Contact the transportation department at 763-506-1125 with questions.
Real-time bus information through FirstView app
