Message From Superintendent Mueller
Good Afternoon, CUSD,
It has been a busy week in the district. At last night’s Board meeting we celebrated our 2024 Teachers of the Year! Congratulations to Linda Kullmann (CMS & CUSD), Nicole Belong (CHS), Gisele Renly (Silver Strand), and Kelly Fortson (Village). We are incredibly fortunate to have these incredible educators on our CUSD team where every day they pour their energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and professionalism into their classrooms. Read all about it on our Newsroom page. A heartfelt congratulations to all four!
It’s Registration Time! Please let us know by Monday, May 6th whether or not your child will be returning to CUSD schools next year. REGISTER HERE!
If you have friends, family, or neighbors with preschool age children, please spread the word about our preschool registration for students ages 3-4. Our two preschool programs (at Village and Silver Strand) offer quality early childhood development curriculum with activities designed to establish academic capabilities that will serve as the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Check it out at coronadopreschool.com
We know that many of you have been waiting for the 2024-25 school year calendar. The approved student calendar has been released and can be found here:FAMILY CALENDAR
Put next Friday on your calendar for the opening of CoSA’s presentation of PIPPIN. The show promises to be a great musical with energetic dance choreography, fun carnival costumes and spectacular scenery. See flyer below for more information or click here for tickets.
We are very proud of our students who advocate fiercely for clean water, especially the Stop the Sewage Club, Emerald Keepers Club and Junior Optimist Club at CHS. Our Governing Board wholeheartedly applauds and endorses their efforts. Trustee Antrim has drafted a template letter that concerned community members can fill in and sign that will be included in a mass-delivery to Sacramento. If you are interested, please fill in the letter and return it to the box in the lobby of the District Office by Wednesday, May 15th.
Enjoy Coronado’s Flower Show Weekend!

Caught Being Awesome!
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Thank you to the World Language staff for putting on an incredible event for our students and our community at the CUSD World Language Awards Ceremony. The event was a wonderful celebration for our students and something they and their families were proud of. Cheers to celebrating World Languages and cultures in CUSD!
- Rina Montero is the ideal IA, her ability to connect with students and support them in such a natural way makes such an asset to our department. I was out a few times recently with a sick child- without hesitation, she made sure students kept to their routine, supported subs as they were getting set up, and supported all students not just the student assigned to her. She brings a smile to all those around her and is humble about how truly talented she is. She is the best IA I have ever worked with.
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
Mobile Device Protection Plan for Families With CUSD Chromebooks
If your student has a CUSD issued Chromebook, you are encouraged to review and consider purchasing the OPTIONAL Mobile Device Protection Plan (MDPP) for the 2023-2024 school year. The annual plan is designed to cover accidental damage of CUSD Chromebooks including screen breakage. In addition, the plan will protect against spills, fire, flood, natural disasters, and theft/loss. Mobile hotspots, power cords, cables, and other accessories are not covered. Intentional damage, improper device storage, and misuse are not covered.
The cost of the plan is $20 per device per year. The plan must be purchased annually at the beginning of each school year or at the time of registration to be valid. To maintain coverage, a new plan must also be purchased if a student is provided with a replacement device due to damage/loss of their previous device. This money will be used to create a dedicated pool of funding to replace or repair covered technology. All money collected through the program will go into a special account that can only be used to replace or repair technology that is covered in the plan. We highly recommend this low-cost protection plan. To purchase a Mobile Device Protection Plan for your student, please use the instructions at the following link: Mobile Device Protection Plan Purchase Instructions.
