NBCT Scholarship Application

The Athens State Regional Inservice Center will honor all 2023 NBCT and MOC Teachers during a reception on Sunday, March 17. The reception will be held at the Sandridge Student Center Ballroom (Building #4 on campus map below) on the campus of Athens State University. Light refreshments will be served starting at 1:30 pm. All NBCTs and MOCs will be recognized beginning at 2:00 pm. Each honoree may bring up to 3 immediate family members to the reception. Please complete the RSVP form if you plan to attend.

Virtual Professional Development with Legacy Partners in Environmental Education: Down Under in North Alabama

Alabama is home to more than 5,000 caves with unique ecosystems that support fragile and fascinating life forms. Join Toni Bruner, the Executive Director of Legacy Partners in Environmental Education and a spelunking expert, as she shares her knowledge of Alabama’s extensive cave ecosystem. Learn how caves form and what their important roles are in our environment. Leave with educational resources and activities from Legacy, APT and PBS to share with your class as you explore frozen waterfalls and soda straw ceilings. One hour of professional development will be awarded at completion. Click here to register.

Workshop will include integrated agricultural activities for grades K-6 and field trips to active farms. Participants will receive Professional Development hours as well as innovative materials and teaching strategies that increase student knowledge of the nutritional and economic importance of the food and fiber systems in their daily lives. The Alabama Ag in the Classroom Planning Committee has established the following criteria for selection of applicants to attend Summer Institute. Applicants must be:

• Full-time K-6 classroom teachers
• K-6 home-school teachers, who instruct more than 2 children in a single family.
• Home school area coordinators.
• K-6 media specialists.
• Administrative personnel, including superintendents, principals, administrative assistants, currently working in grades K-6.
• Alabama Cooperative Extension System Agents who work with K-6.
• Alabama Soil and Water Association District Coordinators who work with K-6th
