Christmas Spirit: The JOY of Giving @ St. Martin's
At St. Martin’s Catholic School, we are called to live out our faith through service, generosity, and compassion, especially during this holy season of Advent and Christmas. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are reminded that this is a time of joy, reflection, and giving, but also a time of great need for many within our community.
This year, our school community came together to support three vital organizations: the Vegreville Christmas Bureau, the Vegreville Food Bank, and Catholic Social Services Lurana Shelter. Through donations of food (600 lbs worth!), gifts, and essential items, we were able to extend a helping hand to those who need it most. These contributions ensure that families, individuals, and children in difficult circumstances can experience the comfort, love, and hope that this season brings.
We are deeply grateful to our students, families, and staff for their overwhelming generosity. Your support has truly demonstrated the spirit of Christ’s love in action. By sharing our blessings, we honor Jesus’ call to care for the least among us (Matthew 25:40). Let us continue to pray for those who are struggling during this time, and may we all carry this spirit of giving into the new year. Together, as a faith-filled community, we can make a meaningful difference.
Wishing you all a blessed Christmas season filled with peace, joy, and hope.

A Heartfelt Thank You for Our Amazing Christmas Concerts
This week, the St. Martin’s Catholic School community was filled with joy and the true spirit of Christmas as our students and staff delivered incredible Christmas Concert performances. Each concert showcased the immense talent, hard work, and dedication of our students and the unwavering support of our staff.
From heartfelt carols to lively performances, every moment reminded us of the joy, love, and hope that Christmas brings. It was a beautiful celebration of the season, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students for sharing their gifts with us. At St. Martin’s Catholic School, we believe that music plays a significant role in shaping well-rounded learners. Through opportunities like choir and other musical initiatives, students develop valuable skills such as discipline, teamwork, and confidence. Music enriches their creativity, sharpens their focus, and fosters a sense of joy and community.
We also want to extend a huge thank-you to our staff, whose creativity and effort made these concerts possible. Your commitment to fostering a love of music and community shines through in every detail.
For families who couldn’t join us in person or wish to relive the magic, the live streams of each performance are available on our Facebook page. Thank you for making this season so special and for reminding us all of the true spirit of Christmas. Wishing you and your families a blessed and joyful holiday season!

St. Martin’s Choir Spreads Christmas Joy
Our Grade 4-6 after-school Choir group, led by Mrs. Laura Pearson Lillies, brought the spirit of Christmas to the residents of the Vegreville Long Term Care Centre. The choir performed a selection of beautiful Christmas songs that truly warmed hearts and spread joy throughout the room. Their wonderful voices and cheerful presence brought many smiles to the faces of their audience members.
Performances, like the one at Vegreville Long Term Care Centre, demonstrate how music allows students to express themselves while also connecting with others in a meaningful way. These experiences instill lifelong values of service, empathy, and appreciation for the arts, shaping not just talented musicians but compassionate and confident individuals.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Lillies for her dedication and leadership in preparing the choir for this special performance. Her efforts, along with the enthusiasm of our talented students, made this a memorable and meaningful event that exemplified the joy of the Christmas season. 🎶🎄

Advent Mass Reflection: Finding God in the Quiet Moments
On Thursday, December 19th, the St. Martin’s Catholic School community came together to celebrate Advent Mass with Father Robert. In this season of anticipation and reflection, Father Robert shared an inspiring message about the importance of seeking God in moments of stillness and quiet, even amidst the busyness and noise that often surrounds us.
He reminded us that God speaks to us in gentle whispers, inviting us to pause, listen, and open our hearts to His presence. Father Robert’s words encouraged students and staff to find moments of peace in their daily lives and to trust in the beauty of God’s quiet voice guiding them.
We are deeply grateful to Father Robert for celebrating this special Mass with us and helping us prepare spiritually for the joyous arrival of Christmas. His message resonated deeply with everyone in attendance and reminded us of the true meaning of the Advent season.
Thank you, Father Robert, for your thoughtful homily and for being a part of our faith journey at St. Martin's Catholic School. May we all carry the spirit of Advent into our hearts as we welcome the birth of Christ.
