Counselor Corner
Hello Concord Families,
Rachel and I are excited to wrap up our final bullying lessons with our 4th and 5th grade students this week. We've spent time teaching them how to recognize, report, and refuse bullying behaviors. One of the key concepts we've focused on with our older students is understanding the difference between rude, mean, and bullying behavior.
We’ve also introduced the 30-Second Rule to help students make better decisions when it comes to commenting on others. The rule encourages children to think before they speak. If someone’s appearance, actions, or behaviors are something they could change in 30 seconds (like an untied shoe or spinach in their teeth), it's okay to comment. But if it’s something they cannot change quickly, such as their hair, clothing, learning style, or the way they speak or read, it's best to keep those thoughts to themselves.
This simple rule is a great way for students to practice empathy and kindness in their daily interactions. It also helps them consider the impact of their words before they speak.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out. We're here to support both students and families!
~Mrs. Hermann and Mrs. Niebur

Social Emotional Screener Information for Families
Social-Emotional Screeners 2024-25
Lindbergh Schools will administer the Social, Academic, Emotional, Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS) survey two times this year. The upcoming screening window begins on Feb. 24..
This building-wide social-emotional learning (SEL) screening survey serves two purposes:
SEL Screening helps the district to evaluate the effectiveness of district-level mental health and social and emotional programming.
SEL screening identifies areas of strengths and needs for individual students in grades K-12.
More about the SAEBRS SEL Screening Survey:
There are two components to the K-5 SAEBRS survey:
Teacher observation risk-rating scale (referred to as SAEBRS)
Student-rater screening survey (referred to as mySAEBRS).
SAEBRS is a 19-item rating scale completed by the classroom teacher and based on teacher observations. It is used to help monitor student strengths and areas of concern. This will be completed by all teachers in grades K-5.
mySAEBRS is a 20-item student-rater screening tool. Students respond to computer-based questions aligned to social, academic, and emotional behaviors. This will be administered only in grades 3-5.
Both SAEBRS and mySAEBRS screen for strengths and areas of concern aligned to the following domains:
Social Development: Students’ ability to understand social norms, empathize, and understand the perspectives of others.
Academic Development: Skills necessary for students to be prepared for, participate in and benefit from academic instruction.
Emotional Development: Students’ ability to regulate internal states, adapt to change and respond to stressful or challenging events.
This document includes sample screening questions on the mySAEBRS and SAEBRS screening surveys.
If you would like more information regarding the importance of SEL screening surveys or you would like to opt your child(ren) out of the 2024-25 SAEBRS survey, click here. You will need to complete an opt-out form for each child enrolled in the district. Please complete the opt-out form before Feb 20. If you completed the opt-out survey during Fall administration you do not need to complete it again.
