Exemption Information
Students and Parents,
To prepare for semester exam exemptions, we need to inform you of an update to practices at Leaman Junior High. With the update of LCISD Board Policy EIAA (Local), there are new requirements and expectations for student attendance on the day of the scheduled exam, even if they are exempt from the assessment. Below are the guidelines for all students exempting an exam:
- Students will report daily to their regularly scheduled class to check in and be counted present by the teacher of record, no later than the campus attendance time of 10:45 AM.
- Students arriving after 10:45 AM will be counted absent for the day and forfeit their exemption.
- If a student fails to be present on the day of the exam, the student shall be marked absent and shall be required to take the assessment later, as determined by the campus administration.
- If the assessment is not taken, the student shall earn a zero for the final/semester examination grade (EIAA (Local)).
- Once attendance is taken, students who are exempt from the final may stay in the classroom, go to an alternate location, or may be checked out early.
- If a student has an exemption and parents want to check the student out early, they must follow campus procedures. This would include walking/riding bike home or parent/guardian picking them up from school (Exemption Parent Communication Document, previously shared). Please be patient, there may be a long line. Have your ID on you and ensure the adult checking out your child is on the emergency list in Skyward.
I am attaching the Leaman Junior High - Final Exam Bell Schedule and a copy of our Administrator/Counselor Alpha-Split. I encourage you to contact your AP/Counselor team if you have questions about exemptions.
As always, you can e-mail me and I will get you in touch with someone who can answer your question.
Sincerely,
Michael Semmler
Principal

Student Badges
As part of the dress code requirements for the 2023-2024 school year, each student is required to wear a school ID Badge. Each student is given a new badge at the beginning of each year (or when a new student registers). Badges must be worn on a lanyard, around the neck all day. Student pictures must be visible and not covered.
If a student has forgotten their badge, they have an opportunity either to purchase a new badge ($5.00) or wear a sticker badge. Sticker badges will receive the consequence of 1-day lunch detention and $1.00 fine, place on the student's account for every printed sticker badge.

PBIS Rewards and Donations
PBIS Expectations & Rewards - PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports. One large piece is explaining expectations upfront. Another piece is rewarding students when we see those focused on positive behaviors. 3 campus-wide expectations posters are placed throughout the campus and added below.
We are using LiveSchool this year and your student can log through Classlink on the LCISD webpage (at the top) to start to explore what this is all about. They do NOT need a phone to do this. It can be done on a laptop or computer.
Parents if you are interested in donating to the PBIS school store the following list is a great start. We accept all donations both monetary and items. Student will begin being able to purchase items during lunch with their LiveSchool points.
Click below to order donations:
You can drop them off in the front off or have them mailed to the school.
