North Community,

We are in the final home stretch of the school year! This week will be the final week for the Class of 2024! Our underclassmen have two weeks and finals left. Let’s stay focused and finish the year strong!

It’s another busy week this week with Regional competition for Baseball, Softball, and Track and Field. We finish up the week with the Seniors last day and yearbook distribution. Let’s have a great week and Go Bison!

Wednesday, May 15th will be the last After School Tutoring opportunity in the Learning Commons. Students are encouraged to schedule time to work with teachers individually from May 16th until the end of school.

There will be a parent and player meeting for students interested in playing football next year at 6:00PM on May 14 in the SMN Aux Gym.

Just a reminder that students need to park in the West or East Lot. There is NO student parking in the circle drive

• Only guardians may report their student's attendance.
• Whether a student is coming in late, leaving early, leaving and coming back during a school day, or out for a full day, it is considered an absence.
• Our Administration asks for your assistance in helping with these procedures.
• If attendance is reported on Attendance line 913-993-6945, please make sure to leave student name, the reason, your name, also leave time student is arriving or leaving.
• Students and teachers will receive an email to leave class at the appropriate time.
• If student's do not have an email pass to leave class, the student will need to come to the Attendance office and we will call a parent or guardian.
• We understand last minute appointments or last-minute checkouts may be unavoidable. If this happens, please come directly to the Attendance office and we will get your student.
• Guardians may submit attendance in advance at 913-993-6945. Attendance line is answered 24/7. If you know there will be an appointment or other obligation in advance, you may always submit ahead of time and attendance will be recorded.
• Unreported absences will be recorded as unexcused, and you will receive an automated phone call at the end of the day.
• Please report attendance within 48 hours or we will require doctor documentation to excuse the absence per district guidelines.
• We will only release students to individuals listed in Skyward by the students' guardian. Please be sure you check your emergency contact list and put all potential individuals who may need to pick up in your absence and delete individuals that you do not want to pick up your student.

Our Charity Picnic was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped us have a great time! As a school we raised $3000 for Children’s Mercy Hospital!

We are a flower company that partners with schools across the city to provide flower bouquets for sale at commencement ceremonies. I appreciate this opportunity and hope that we can find a couple of great students to be a part of our team this year.

Dance Team Information

Congratulations to our new Dance Coach, Michaela Middleton. Please see the flyers below for the dance clinic and dance try-out dates. Due to graduation ceremonies at SMSD-North, the Dance Team Parent Meeting will be held on Monday, May 20th at 6:30pm at Hocker Grove Library.

The Lady Bison Soccer team dropped their final game of the season to Shawnee Mission East, 4-0. Girls varsity soccer was defeated Tuesday evening by Olathe South. Senior Iliana Garcia scored the only goal for the Bison. North is back in action for the final home game of the season this Thursday May 9th. Senior night vs Shawnee Mission East. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.

The Shawnee Mission North Bison go 1-2 in the final week of the regular season. In game 1, the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars walk off the Bison 4-3. Cale Fossett got the start on the mound going 6.2 innings giving up 2 Earned runs, but ultimately gave up the losing runs in the bottom of the 7th (unearned). The offense sparked by Moses Bortka and Jack Taylor both having 2 hit performances, and Haiden Peterson and Cash Messenger having one each. In game 2 the Shawnee Mission North Bison beat the Olathe Northwest Ravens 4-2 behind a great pitching performance by Haiden Peterson. Peterson went the distance, only giving up the 2 runs in the 6th. The offense was sparse in this game, as the Bison only collected hits from Cale Fosset, Cash Messenger, Norman Davis and Nate Doolin, but ultimately scratched 4 runs across in the win. In game 3 the Bison fell to the Vikings of Shawnee Mission West. The Bison bats started off hot, putting up 4 runs in the 1st, but failed to score again in the 8-4 loss. The Bison pitchers struggled to find the zone, walking 13 batters across the 7! Innings. Although 7 hitters had at least 1 hit, the Vikings got them when they mattered the most. The Bison will play Tuesday at 2 PM in their first Regional matchup vs the Blue Valley North Mustangs. If the Bison win, they will play again at 6 pm vs the winner of Olathe West and Blue Valley Northwest. All games will be played at CBAC.

SM North Lady Bison Softball will play Mill Valley @ 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 14 @ CBAC. Championship game will be approximately 7:00pm. This is a KSHSAA event /admission.
