The GEC Insider
Welcome Back GEC Students & Families! 2023-2024
Dear GEC Family,
As the principal of Genesee Early College, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year at GEC. It is our mission to help every student feel welcomed, connected, and a part of our GEC family. We strive to challenge your students academically and help them grow into successful high school and college students. At GEC, we have great teachers who spend hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in learning. We want all of our students to leave GEC prepared to complete their postsecondary education and thrive in meaningful careers.
Our most exciting news is that we have completed our move to French Hall which is located in the heart of the University of Michigan - Flint campus. We welcome you to tour our new space and find your classroom at our Open House on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Students and parents should park in Lot A which is located near the Recreation Center. You will find a couple of maps in this newsletter to help guide you. This will also be the location of student and family parking during the school year, and where families can drop off and pick up their students each day.
One final piece of news that I have to share is that GEC counselor, Betsy Wambaugh, has taken a counseling position at another local school. We will truly miss the guidance and commitment she has given to this program and its students. Until we fill her position, please contact Assistant Principal, Mrs. Thomas, with any concerns that you have.
I am honored to serve as your principal. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where families, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. Please feel free to contact me at 810-591-5115 or at rmcallis@geneseeisd.org.
Once again, welcome back! Enjoy these last few moments of summer with your family and friends, and we can't wait to share in your educational journey and your early college experience this fall.
Sincerely,
Robert McAllister
