This communication comes on Sundays at 5:00pm through email and Class Dojo
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,
Soon I will be on maternity leave as I am awaiting the arrival of my second baby! I intend to return at the end of November. While I am away, Mr. Cesarz will be interim principal at Schweitzer. Mr. Cesarz is a retired principal from Adams, he spent his entire career as a teacher and administrator in Wayne-Westland. I will miss everyone while I am away!
The best way to get in touch with Mr. Cesarz is by calling the office at 734-419-2750, or email at cesarzm@wwcsd.net. Mr. Cesarz will not be connected to Class Dojo messaging.
Just a reminder that school starts at 8:30am and arrival begins at 8:20am, do not leave your students unattended before arrival begins.
Looking forward to another great week at Schweitzer! 🐝
Sincerely,
Emily Fa'asoa, Schweitzer Principal

IMPORTANT: EARLY STUDENT PICK UP
We respect that some appointments or obligations will require you to pick-up your child(ren) early from school. If you have an appointment and you must pick up your child early, please expect delays and please come before 2:45 pm. In the spirit of safety, our dismissal process involves all staff and it is very difficult to have staff get a student early from their classroom and bring them to the office between 2:45 and 3:20 pm. Please do not pick-up children between 2:45 and 3:20pm. This greatly affects our safe and efficient dismissal process. We do not have extra staff to easily get students from class prior to our 3:20 dismissal. Thank you for your continued support.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL SAFETY
- School begins at 8:30am. Student drop offs may begin at 8:20am
- Please drive carefully and cautiously in our school parking lot.
- Make sure you are only letting students out of your car when you are in the drop off lane
- Students may enter our school from either the main entrance or the doors on either end of the building by the 5th grade classrooms or kindergarten classrooms and families say goodbye outside of our school.
- The drop off loop in front of the school is for 30 second drop offs only
- Thank you for keeping our students safe!
HERE COMES THE BUS APP
- If your child rides the bus, please be sure to download the Here Comes the Bus mobile app.
- Parents will know when their child’s bus arrives in real-time and when it has arrived at their school.
- Parents can also track the bus trip as students return home at the end of the day.
- The Here Comes the Bus app is available in the App Store and Google Play.
- See our Here Comes the Bus webpage for more information.
FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
Wayne-Westland Community Schools has a Family Resource Center (FRC), offering free services to all students and families within our district.
- Among the services provided are:
- Basic needs assistance
- Access to over 700 local resources
- Laundry Assistance Program
- Additionally, the FRC offers essential items, such as emergency toiletries, socks, underwear, hats, gloves, and scarves, to those in need. School supplies and backpacks are also available year-round for any district student.
Please contact our Family Resource Center at 734-419-2709 or FRC@wwcsd.net. A Digital Request for Services Form is also available. If you have additional questions about their services, please contact the Family Resource Center directly.
PARENT CONNECTION UPDATE DIRECTIONS
- All Families MUST Update/Verify Contact Information in Parent Connection each year. *If you recently registered your Kindergarten student, you have already done this.
- Teacher placements can be viewed in Parent Connection starting on Friday, August 23rd
- Log in to your ParentPortal using your PIN and password and click on the red “Back to School Registration” link at the top of the page.
- CLICK HERE WWCS PARENT CONNECTION
- Click through each link confirming or changing any information and then click "submit and save."
- If you have more than one student, you MUST repeat this process for each child so that we have accurate contact information for each student in an emergency.
- There is a section in Parent Connection asking if you want transportation (you have to live more than 1 mile from the school to be eligible). If your dwelling meets these qualifications and you want your child to ride the bus, you MUST check YES or a bus route will NOT be assigned.
IMPORTANCE OF DAILY ATTENDANCE
ATTENDANCE LINE 734-419-2757
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
