Reading Challenge
It’s almost time for our Winter Break Reading Challenge happening December 20-January 6! This is a LONG break and we encourage you to make reading each day part of your family traditions! Students can access myOn and Sora on their iPads so it’s an easy way for them to read each day during Winter Break. They can also request a reading log from their teacher and include time they read independently as well as time that the family spends reading books together. In addition to the incentives being offered by teachers to encourage reading over the break, we have the following school wide incentives:
Primary vs Intermediate: the group with the most total minutes read during the break will have a pajama day!
The grade level with the highest percentage of students who read at least 360 minutes (about 20 minutes a day) during the break will have an extra recess!
The 15 readers in the school with the most minutes read will receive a certificate and a book!
Happy Reading!
Intermediate Assembly
At our recent assembly, we celebrated our intermediate students for their outstanding achievements! Awards were given for Academic Achievement, Growth, Kindness in Action, SOAR Expectations, and excellence in Art, Music, and PE. Congratulations to all our award winners!
Winter Break
Winter Break is Dec 20th- Jan 6th. We look forward to seeing students on Tuesday, January 7th!
Congratulations
Congratulations to the winners of the PTO Silent Auction! They’ve claimed reserved parking spaces and the honor of naming our Hug ‘n’ Go Lane. Thank you for supporting our school through this fun event!

2nd Grade Eagles
This week, our 2nd grade Eagles had an exciting hands-on learning experience with Indi Robots during a visit from the Innovation Center staff! Using colored tiles, they collaborated to program their robots to navigate specific paths. Each tile represented a different function, such as turns or movements, and students worked together to sequence the tiles to guide the robots.
Not only did they have fun programming, but they also connected their coding to math concepts. After designing paths, they explored how the robot's turns related to angles in a circle, practicing addition to calculate degrees.
It was an engaging way to integrate technology and math, sparking creativity and teamwork!
Cell Phone and Smartwatch Expectations Reminder
We want to remind families about our cell phone and smartwatch expectations to ensure students can focus on learning during the school day.
Before and After School: Students may use their phones and smartwatches freely.
During School Hours: Phones must be turned off and kept in backpacks. Smartwatches may only be used to tell time.
If a parent needs to be contacted during the school day due to illness, forgotten items, or other reasons, our staff will make the necessary contact. This policy helps minimize distractions and keeps our students fully engaged in their education.
Thank you for your support in maintaining a focused learning environment!
NHS from FHS
A big thank you to our NHS (National Honor Society) volunteers from Frederick High School, who are dedicating their time to support our students with reading and math skills. Their contributions are making a difference!
2nd Grade Designs
Check out some of the “hats” our 2nd graders designed! The hats needed to have properties that would help protect them from weather like sun and rain. It also needed to be comfortable enough to wear for a long period of time. They came up with some creative designs!
Robotics
Our Robotics teams had an amazing showing at Saturday's League tournament, with one team earning the prestigious Design Award for their exceptional interview with the judges and detailed notebook. Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and innovation!
Soaring Singers
Our Soaring Singers choir concert was a fantastic success and a great warm-up for their upcoming performance at the Colorado Music Educators Association Conference in January. We’re proud of their hard work in learning challenging pieces and are excited to see them shine on a larger stage! Way to go Eagles, and Mrs. Keller!
3rd Grade
Our accelerated 3rd-grade math group impressed us with their mastery of 4th-grade standards. They showcased their skills by completing a challenging Geometry Jigsaw project. We are Growing Learners and Leaders at Prairie Ridge!
Positive Office Referrals
We’re proud to recognize students who go above and beyond meeting expectations with our coveted Positive Office Referrals. Congratulations to some of this week’s honorees for their exceptional actions and leadership!

Attendance Matters
Every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after the winter holiday as families squeeze in a few more vacation days. We know that just a few missed days here and there can add up to too much lost learning time and put your child behind in school. Even if you’ve got a homework packet from the teacher, it doesn’t make up for the interaction and learning that happens in the classroom. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning, right up until vacation starts and the first day back. This holiday season, give your children the gift of an education and the habit of school attendance. Winter Break is December 20-January 6.
