2020 - 2021 SWAT TEAM Applications
Does your child like technology and want to make a difference at Autrey Mill?
Encourage them to apply for our SWAT Team! Our Students Working to Advance Technology Team is looking for new members for the 2020-2021 school year. SWAT Team is an integral part of our school, helping with transformative uses of technology and troubleshooting issues that arise within a 1-to-1 learning environment. Through this opportunity, students will gain valuable, real-life skills that will help them in the future as they learn to navigate customer service needs, speak and present in front of others, and gain leadership skills as they help to implement our technology plan using their own ideas and creativity. Students do not need to know all things tech-related to apply, but do need some working knowledge of how to use an iPad. Our team values a kind heart and willingness to learn, as the technology skills can be taught. Only a select number of students will be accepted onto this team following the application process, teacher recommendations, and an interview.
Applications can be found here: http://bit.ly/ammsswat2020.
If you are interested in more information, please email Mrs. Bongiorno at bongiornom@fultonschools.org.
Attendance Notes
The notes should include first name, last name, date(s) and student's grade. Attendance will be adjusted within 24 to 48 hours.
Attention 6th Grade Parents
You can now log your child’s reading minutes to earn a free ticket to Six Flags Over Georgia! Read To Succeed is a free program that allows students in grades K-6 to earn tickets to Six Flags Over Georgia just by reading six hours for fun. Students will develop a greater appreciation for books when they see that you think reading is important too. You are sure to have fun as you investigate the world of reading together!
There are some changes this year so be aware if your child has previously completed this program.
Here is how your child can earn a free ticket to Six Flags:
- We are going digital this year! Register this fall using this link: Visit: sixflags.com/books
- Use Autrey Mill Middle School's code: PNR8M and select their ELA/Reading Teacher.
- Your child may read any books they choose.
- Keep track of your child’s reading using the form given to them by their ELA/Reading Teacher.
- Record your child’s reading at our website.
- Receive a free Six Flags Over Georgia ticket from Autrey Mill Middle School in May!
Do NOT return the reading log sheet to your teacher. Log your child’s reading using the link and code above.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s ELA/reading teacher or Mrs. Bongiorno @bongiornom@fultonschools.org. Thank you!

8th Grade Walking Tour Through Historical Roswell
We are excited to offer the Autrey Mill eighth grade students a walking tour through historical Roswell. Through a partnership between the Fulton County Schools Teaching Museum and the City of Roswell, Georgia history comes alive during the tour which include visits to antebellum homes, a historic chapel, the town square, and multiple “come-to-life” historical figures based on primary source documents.
The teaching museum can only accommodate 250 students at one time, so half the students will attend the trip on Monday, March 23, 2020, and the other half will go on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. We will load the buses at 9:00 a.m. and return by 1:00 p.m. for lunch. The 8th grade will have a different class schedule those two days to accommodate the trip.
The trip is free to all students, but parents must complete the permission form located HERE for their student to attend the trip. Permission forms are due by Wednesday, March 18, 2020. If a student misses the field trip due to an absence, they will not be permitted to attend on another day due to space limitations.
This is a great opportunity for 8th grade students to experience Georgia history.
If you have any questions regarding the trip, please contact me at ericksona@fultonschools.org.
Dress Code - Warm Weather Coming Soon!
- All students shall dress appropriately so as not to interfere with or disrupt the educational program.
- Bare midriffs, tank tops and see-through clothing are not acceptable.
- Shorts and skirts that are any shorter than mid-thigh are not permitted.
Designated dress for specific school activities approved by the Principal shall be acceptable. The Principal or other authorized school official shall determine whether any particular mode of dress results is a violation of the spirit and/or intent of this rule.
Spring Break Check Out Procedures
In order to avoid interruptions of instructional time, students MUST have a note designating the time that they should meet parents in the front office for check-out.
Notes should be brought to the front office in the morning for authorization. The stamped note will allow the student to leave class at the designated time. Without a note, the student will not be called to the office until the parent is at the school to sign him/her out. (for example, students will not be called out of class if a parent calls the school from the car.) For this reason, there may be delays if the student does not present a signed note for approval in advance , notifying the front office of the early dismissal.
Students will not be allowed to be checked out with "other students" unless a note is presented to the office in the morning with permission from parent. We cannot accept phone calls or emails requesting this type of checkout.
Your cooperation with school check in/out procedures will help to keep classroom interruptions to a minimum and will get you on your way in a timely manner.
As always, changes in transportation must be made before 3:00 p.m.
