Hello RCE Families,

As we head into the final weeks of the school year, we’re excited about the many learning opportunities still ahead. Your support in reinforcing strong routines—both at home and at school—makes a big difference. Please continue to encourage regular attendance and consistent homework habits.

We also want to remind everyone to be mindful of safety during drop-off and pick-up. Please drive carefully, stay alert, and help us keep the flow of traffic smooth. Be sure to leave the bus lane clear so our buses can safely maneuver in and out. And don’t forget to use extra caution around the crosswalks each morning and afternoon.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will begin CMAS testing next week. A good night’s sleep and a timely arrival will help set them up for success. If you have any questions about the testing schedule or expectations, please connect with your child’s teacher.

Schools that qualify for Title I funding but do not meet the 40% cut off to operate a schoolwide program may request a waiver. We intend to request a waiver so that Running Creek can use funds to enhance the entire educational program at the school. We believe that it will be more beneficial to utilize the funds to operate a schoolwide program that allows us to benefit all students, including those most at risk of not meeting academic standards, by improving the overall quality of classroom instruction and improving the academic performance of all students rather than just targeting funds to provide interventions and supports for a smaller group of students. We’re excited to announce that NEW STUDENT/Kindergarten registration for the upcoming school year is now open! Secure your child’s spot at RCE by completing the registration process as soon as possible. Early registration helps us plan for the best possible learning experience for all students. For the safety and efficiency of our student drop-off and pick-up process, please do not use the bus loop for dropping off or picking up students. It is essential to keep this area clear so our buses have the necessary space for arrival and departure.

Also, we are grateful to Harvest Bible Church for graciously allowing us to use their parking lot for student drop-off and pick-up. To ensure safety and minimize disruptions, they ask that families use only the west entrance off Elbert Street when entering and exiting the parking lot and park on the south side. This precaution is necessary as children and adults are using their building throughout the day.

RCE has adopted The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Students and staff will be training, practicing, and drilling the protocol. We will be practicing one evacuation (fire) drill each month, one lockdown drill each semester, and one secure drill and one shelter (tornado) drill.
