Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Happy new year! I trust all families have been enjoying the hot weather and school holidays. As they say, all good things must come to an end! 2022 is shaping up to be another challenging year in navigating the pandemic but we will continue to keep our parents informed and put the safety and wellbeing of our children first. Hopefully, the children have had the opportunity to relax, refresh and be raring to go come Monday, 31 January. Below is some brief information to assist parents in the final week of school holidays prior to school commencing.
COVID INFORMATION
As per the memo sent at the conclusion of last year, all regular volunteers on school site, including ALL school staff are required to provide proof of double vaccination by January 31. The term regular volunteer refers to once a week. Therefore, P&F Executive, volunteers for regular P&F events (eg. lunches, icy poles), after school coordinators, OSH Club staff and regular contractors will be required to provide a copy (preferably electronic) of their COVID Vaccination certificate to administration.
CEWA, in line with WA Health Dept and the State Government are currently reviewing any adjustments necessary in providing a safe return to school plan for our children. This includes wearing of masks for staff and parents whilst on site and reviewing classroom ventilation. Please be assured that I will endeavour to keep parents informed of any new information as it is released.
TERM 1 UNIFORMS
Attached below is a summary of the Summer Uniform requirements for boys and girls. To assist in picking up final items, the uniform shop will be open at the following times:
Monday 24th Jan 1-4pm
Tuesday 25th Jan 1-4 pm
(**on-line orders are only to be picked up on Tues 25th Jan from 2-3pm outside the uniform shop near the Year 3 / 4 block)
As you can imagine, this is one of the busiest times of the year for our Uniform Shop Coordinator, Mrs Meg Goldie, so I please ask that you be patient and understanding when dealing with uniform orders.
THURSDAY 27th JANUARY - OPEN CLASSROOMS 1-3pm
This year, we are trialling opening classrooms on Thursday afternoon, 27th January from 1pm-3pm for children in PP-Year 6 ONLY (Kindy is unavailable). This will provide an opportunity for parents and children to come into school, meet the teacher and bring in their stationery early. This initiative will hopefully settle the nerves for some children and build the excitement for others. You do not need to make a time to come in, the classrooms will be open from 1pm so feel free to come in, drop off your stationery and say hi to your teacher for the upcoming year.
TERM 1 2022 IMPORTANT DATES
Attached below are the term dates and public holidays. Also attached are the important religious, sporting and school events for Term 1. Please note any dates that may be applicable to you and your children. The LIVE Calendar link is the most up-to-date reflection of school events and parents are encouraged to check this regularly via our school website. Most dates for the year are available for the remainder of 2022. Please diarise important relevant dates.
FAMILY FUN NIGHT 11 FEB 5-7pm
At this stage, our Family Fun Night is scheduled to go ahead. The P&F will hold their annual Family Fun Night on Friday 11Feb @ 5-7pm. Unfortunately, due to the tragedy in Devonport, Tasmania, there will be no bouncy castles this year. However, the P&F have quickly organised some fantastic alternative activities which look super fun! There will also be a food truck. It is a great opportunity to get together and welcome new and existing families to our school. Please see the P&F for further information.
Another challenging year awaits, but we are looking forward to continuing to support all our children and build on our wonderful community at St Francis of Assisi. Enjoy the last days of freedom before school lunches, ironing, washing and parent taxi responsibilities set in again for another 10 weeks!
