VMMS Community Connection
Week of April 28, 2025 - May 2, 2025
Greetings, Viper Community!
It was another fantastic week of fun and learning at VMMS. Keep reading for more important updates.
We will begin testing season this week! The CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) is a statewide, standardized and standards based assessment administered for students in 3rd-8th and 11th grades. This common assessment provides valuable data that measures growth and proficiency of students in core academic areas. At VMMS, assessment and feedback is built into our IB identity. Our collective school community values and understands the importance of "showing what you know" in all types of assessment.
During your Spring Student Led Conference, a printed copy of your student's CAASPP scores report was provided so you understand your student's performance last year. All Vipers have completed data chats in the core classes to reflect and create goals. In addition, we underscore the importance of the assessment as it relates to options for high school courses and how it can predict overall academic achievement. Please speak with your Viper about the importance of trying their best on the test!
Our Vipers have prepared for the CAASPP in many ways throughout the year. Through our iReady diagnostic tests/lessons, IABs (Interim Assessment Blocks, which are standards aligned mini-assessments that mirror the CAASPP), and daily practice with complex CAASPP released questions, our Vipers will be well prepared for the main event!

Please see the flyer below that outlines the dates of each grade level assessment as well as important tips for home support. Thank you for being your Viper's biggest cheerleader as they put forth their best effort during this testing season!
Please call the office at (760) 726-5766 or visit the office M-F from 8:00-4:00 if you have any questions or need assistance.
Thank you!

EPIC VIPER Party: Success!
A huge shout-out to our PE and Counseling Departments for leading the EPIC Viper Party!
Students had a great time enjoying otter pops, playing volleyball, flag football, soccer, and catching up with friends. Meanwhile, our amazing counseling team facilitated lessons on decision-making, tailored to the topics where students needed the most support.
Thank you all for creating such a fun and meaningful experience for our Vipers!
We would like to also give a big THANK YOU to our parent volunteers that helped with popsicle handout.

VUSD Parent Survey
Parents & Guardians: We invite you to complete our VUSD Parent Input Survey to help us continue improving the educational experience for all students. Please complete the survey for at least one of your children in VUSD. If you have more than one child in the district, we’d love for you to fill out a separate survey for each—it helps us better understand each unique experience.
In the coming weeks, students in grades 4, 7, and 10 will also complete their version of the survey during class time.
Your honest feedback plays a vital role in shaping our programs, services, and priorities across the district. Click here to take the VUSD Parent Input Survey now. Prefer a paper copy? Visit the VMMS office where our Community Liaison will have them available.
Thank you for being a valued partner in your child’s education!
