A message from the principal
Thank you to our MBE Student Leaders!
Our students have been exceptional role models this year with service learning at Morris Bye Elementary! This school year our students in grades K-5 have been immersed in the following community service projects at school, in the Coon Rapids area, and globally:
-Anoka County Food Shelf and Clothing Drive
-Book Buggy Drive: Used book collection for students in the greater community
-Feed My Starving Children, Grade 4 Mobile Food Packing for Global Communities
-MBE Property Pick-up & Healthy Choices, Keeping our School Community Clean and Healthy
-MBE Grade 5 Students Letter Leaders for MBE Grade K Students
-MBE Grade 4 Students Mentoring MBE Grade 1/Grade 2 Students in Mathematics & Reading
Our students have been able to learn and lead as service leaders throughout the school and, in particular, with our Talent Development Program implementing passion project learning. This school year four of our MBE Grade 4 students led a community service project and learned through Ms. Burow, MBE Talent Development Teacher, how to plan, organize, and implement a service learning opportunity. Thank you to Elliana Barnes, Addison Martin, Annamarie Vance, and Leah Doyle for developing our service learning projects at Morris Bye Elementary: Book Buggy Drive, FMSC Mobile Food Packs, and MBE Mentoring opportunities. The service leadership programs have ignited and presented great community connections for all of our MBE Students. Our students have been highly engaged and wanting to participate and benefit from implementing our Leader In Me initiative for Habit 8-Student Voice this school year . We are looking forward as a school community to the future to continue to "Pay It Forward" in our communities.
We are grateful for our students exceptional leadership!- Ms. Wahlin, Principal

Leah's Passion Project
Leah D. is a 4th Grader at Morris Bye Elementary School in Coon Rapids. When her talent
development teacher, Ms. Burow (pictured in dark blue) challenged her students to come up with a passion project, Leah chose Feed My Starving Children because she wanted to help people. Then she got to work! With support from her classroom teacher, Ms. Frederickson (pictured in white), Leah talked to the principal, helped to arrange and raise money for bussing, created permission slips, recruited parent chaperones and organized bag lunches.
On April 2nd, Leah brought a total of 103 students and chaperones in to FMSC-Coon Rapids. This was all three 4th grade classes at Morris Bye Elementary School! Together this group packed 19,656 meals. That is enough to feed 54 children one solid meal a day for a year!
Amazing work Leah, you are a world changer.
