A Message from our Dean of Students, Mrs. Hyatt
OMSI Brings Outer Space to First Grade!
On Tuesday, all first-grade students participated in a special in-house field trip with OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) that connected directly to their current science unit on the moon and stars.
Students rotated through interactive stations exploring different aspects of our solar system. At the Neptune station, they experimented with a liquid-filled orb to simulate the planet's powerful storms. They also had a chance to become "planets" themselves—circling around the sun to understand planetary orbits. One of the most exciting activities involved standing on different scales to discover what they would weigh on various planets, based on each planet's gravitational pull.
The hands-on experiences brought science to life and sparked curiosity in our young astronomers. It was a day full of fun, learning, and exploration.
Spring Carnival Brings Fun and Aloha to Hawks View!
Hawks View wrapped up spring with a splash of island fun at our annual Spring Carnival! This year’s Hawaiian theme was a hit with students and families alike. From the cool treats served by the Kona Ice truck to the delicious Hawaiian-inspired food, the event was full of festive flavors and fun moments.
Families enjoyed games, inflatables, a raffle, and the chance to see Hawks View staff outside the classroom running activities and joining in the fun. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our community as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success—we can’t wait to do it again next year!
Parent Input for Student Placement - Due 5/11
Each Spring, we give parents an opportunity for input regarding their child’s placement for the next school year. This is not a place to request teachers, as teacher assignments aren’t finalized at this point. As your child’s caregiver, you provide valuable information and insight and we’ll take your thoughts into consideration. We do our best to create balanced classes and cannot accommodate every request that is asked of us. With about 500 students, you can imagine placement is a very long, thoughtful process. The input form will be available until May 11th.
Lost and Found
Please remind your students to check the lost and found for any items they may have left behind. Our Lost and Found items will be near the library/front office during conferences. We have accumulated quite a few items over the last few months, so please come look for any missing items! All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year.
New Address?
If you plan to move over the summer, or have already made a move, please let the office know as soon as possible. As we are starting to think about class sizes for next fall, it’s very important that we know if your child(ren) will be attending school at Hawks View. End or beginning of year mailings are not forwarded.
