Administrative Announcement for District Families
March 20, 2025
Dear District Families,
I am writing to share news regarding a shift in leadership at Carleton Washburne School. On Tuesday it was announced that Dr. Andrew Fenton, who has served as Principal for six years, accepted a position as the Director of Teaching and Learning in Lake Forest District 67. I want to provide you with some information about how we are planning for this important transition in our school community.
Dr. Luke Livingston, who has served as Principal of Crow Island School since 2021, will shift to the Principal position at Carleton Washburne School effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Livingston is a beloved member of the District’s leadership team and within the Crow Island community. He has proven to be an exemplary leader during his tenure at Crow Island School, developing strong relationships with families and staff. Prior to his current role, Dr. Livingston served as a Principal in Lake Forest District 67 and was an Associate Principal in North Shore District 112. His experience includes serving as a seventh grade teacher and elementary school teacher.
Dr. Livingston has a Doctorate of Education (EdD) from Loyola University Chicago, Master of Arts in Education Administration from Dominican University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University, and a B.A. in Political Science and History from Alma College.
Dr. Livingston has a passion for fostering excellence in Progressive Education, commitment to meeting the needs of all students and history of collaborative communication with staff and parents. His background in middle school education and familiarity with the District's students, staff, Administrative team, and Winnetka families will serve the Washburne community well. Dr. Livingston will follow up shortly with specific opportunities to meet with staff and families of students who will be in grades 6-8 over the course of the spring so you are able to become more familiar with each other. We are fortunate to retain this growing, effective leader in our district and excited to see him continue to make an impact at the middle school level.
Please join me in warmly welcoming Dr. Livingston.
Most Sincerely,
Dr. Kelly Tess
Superintendent of Schools
