LNPD Weekly Newsletter
AISD Learn 'N Playday Preschool Updates for Week of 1/13
LNPD Weekly Updates:
We hope everyone enjoyed the snow days last week and were ready to have your kids back at school.
It was great to have a full week to get back into the swing of things for our new year. This week was fun having our 2 Pajama Days. Friday, we also had the AISD PR department take our photo with all the PJ's that will be donated this month to Hopes Door in Plano. Hopes Door is very grateful to receive the pajamas that we were able to collect and have them matched up with a Scholastic Book too. Thank you again for all your donations!
NO SCHOOL on Monday, 1/20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
We also have our Muffins in the Morning event this week on Wednesday, 1/22 and Thursday, 1/23. If you did not sign up with your child's teachers, please do so by Tuesday morning. This is an RSVP event, allowing two adults per LNPD student.
Please make sure you have a full change of clothes in your child's backpacks. We are noticing a lot of empty backpacks and we have had a stomach bug hit LNPD this week. We definitely need to have something clean to change the kids into while they wait to be picked up.
Weekly classroom images and pictures from our PJ Day and the Playground are found in the gallery below and on your teacher's websites. https://www.allenisd.org/o/aisd/page/learn-n-playday
Classroom Themes
3's classes with Mrs. Angie and Mrs. Stephanie were learning all about FAIRY TALES this week. The 3 Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Humpty Dumpty, and Little Red Riding Hood, were some of the stories told and focused on in the classroom. The kids had fun hearing some of these fun stories and working with things in their centers to support these fun Nursery Rhymes. Oatmeal in the sensory table, egg letter and shape activities in the centers, and the BIG BAD WOLF at art!
Mrs. Dede and Mrs. Yolanda's class focused on ANIMALS IN WINTER this week. The kids had lots of polar bears, penguins and seals in their centers this week. There were tons of winter activities for the kids to do, like matching letters on hot chocolate cups, counting snowmen, measuring snowcapped mountains, and playing a winter memory game. They made an igloo in art and played with fake snow in the water table and hot cocoa with marshmallows in the sensory table.
Mrs. Celesa and Mrs. Cynthia's class had a RAIN FOREST theme this week. The kids put together a HUGE floor puzzle with tigers, Macaws, crocodiles and snakes. They also counted frogs and bird feathers, practiced writing Rr words and matching Rr pictures to the letter R magnets. There were gorilla's and bananas in their sensory table, along with frogs, turtles and lily pads in the water table. They began painting their classroom art project of a 6-foot-long snake.

Tuition payments
Throughout the school year you are always able to update your status to auto-pay. However, if you choose to pay manually, you can make your payment at anytime in the two week period from the time of invoice, up until the 28th of every month without a $25 late fee. Any late payments will receive the late fee and it will be charged automatically on your next months invoice. I try to send several reminders to help you avoid these fees.
Families were sent an invoice on 1/15 via email from Eleyo.
February tuition is due no later than 1/28.

Our Light Blue January calendar went home this month. Please make sure you are making note of important dates and activities each month. We would love to have them in our program for next school year!
**If you are a returning LNPD student or a sibling of a current LNPD student, you will get to register before anyone from our waiting list, so no need to get on the waiting list for yourselves.

Illness Reminders:
If sick, your child must be:
1. fever free 24 hours
2. vomit free 24 hours
3. diarrhea free for 24 hours, all before sending them back to school
They also need to be medicine free at school. Giving Tylenol or other fever reducing medicines in the morning can upset their stomachs and also lead to fevers and vomiting later in the day or children falling asleep.
We have had a lot of runny noses and coughing at LNPD and a few kids have had strep and flu. The tummy bug has hit LNPD. If your child is experiencing loose bowels or complaining that their tummy hurts, it is the first signs of this illness. Please be on the lookout for any of these things and keep your children home if they are within that 24 hours of being contagious.
Recess Information
If it is 90-99 actual temperature or heat index, we have a shortened recess time of 10 minutes
It is 100 or above actual temperature or heat index it is INDOOR recess only
35 or below actual or wind child, INDOOR recess only
36-40 degrees its shortened recess and all students must have appropriate jacket and clothing
Air Quality alerts are also shortened recess 10-15 minutesPotty Reminders
Please make sure you have your child use the restroom before leaving your houses in the mornings. Also, please remind your children to tell the teachers when they need to go potty. Some of the accidents we are experiencing is because our students either wait too long to tell someone or they do not inform the teachers that they need to go. (Every LNPD class goes as a class at least 3-4 times per day)
Please have a full change of clothes in your child's backpack. Socks and shoes included and more than one pair of underwear and pants or shorts are always helpful too. Please also make sure your children's clothing items are labeled.
Ongoing 24-25 LNPD Registration. Openings in our 4's classes ONLY.
Other Important Information
- Field trips and LNPD activities have begun. All parents must complete a background check prior to participating in any of these activities. This process may take up to two weeks to complete. I have included the link for easy access if you are interested in volunteering. https://www.allenisd.org/page/register-volunteer
- We are not using water fountains this year, so a water bottle is definitely needed. We have a touch free, filtered water bottle station in the LNPD hallway, so we can refill their bottles too.
Make sure to visit our LNPD website to view our monthly calendar and newsletter, find your weekly classroom news and pictures, music songs, links to Eleyo. www.allenisd.org/learnnplayday (4 year old's need to turn in their hearing and vision forms by Dec. 22nd)
- Visit our Allen ISD home page to find the latest information on the district. https://www.allenisd.org
- If you think your child needs to be assessed for any special services, such as speech, autism, hearing or vision impaired, cognitive, social or emotional development, etc..., please reach out to our Allen ISD Special Services department and then go to Child Find. Here is their direct link to get you started: https://www.allenisd.org/o/aisd/page/child-find
