AMS Weekly Smore
Week of April 15-19
Hello Adams Families
We hope you are enjoying the blossoming spring season. We wanted to take a moment to update you on some recent events and activities at our school.
Firstly, we're thrilled to report that on Monday, our students had the incredible opportunity to witness the solar eclipse. Thank you to the staff members who ensured students had approved solar glasses for safe viewing. It was truly a breathtaking event that left us all in awe of the wonders of the universe. Mrs. Bukosky and Mr. Mason showered staff members with Cosmic Brownies and Star Crunches as a small token of appreciation for everything they do to support our students and our school community, and of course to celebrate the solar eclipse!
On Tuesday, our 8th graders took the PSAT 8, and we're pleased to say that the day went smoothly and beautifully. We're proud of our students for their hard work and dedication to their academic pursuits.
Thursday brought another important event as we administered the MStep. Once again, our students showed great focus and commitment during testing, and we're confident in their abilities to showcase their learning.
As we transition into the spring season, our school is abuzz with the excitement of spring sports. It's wonderful to see our students participating and enjoying the warmer days ahead.
We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our students for their continued efforts, to our staff for their unwavering support and dedication, and to you, our families, for your ongoing partnership in your child's education.
Here's to a successful and fulfilling remainder of the school year!
Mrs. Bukosky and Mr. Mason

Construction at Adams
We're excited to inform you that Adams is currently undergoing construction to enhance our facilities. Our new office will be conveniently located at the front of the building, ready for the start of the 24/25 school year.
As part of this process, we've made some changes to the layout:
- The camera and doorbell have been relocated for better accessibility (to the right of the original location)
- You'll notice a temporary wall in our main hallway, which is part of the construction process.
- A dumpster to be placed in our front lot to facilitate the demolition of the old choir and band rooms by the construction crew.
- We're pleased to announce that students now have access to brand new choir and band rooms.
Additionally, our school is undergoing cosmetic improvements:
- The entire building is being painted to give it a fresh look.
- New flooring will be laid down to enhance the environment for both students and staff.
We understand that construction can sometimes be disruptive, but please be assured that a lot of this work is being scheduled after school hours, on weekends, and during breaks to minimize any inconvenience.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to create an even better learning environment for our students.
Teacher Appreciation Week
National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10, 2024. The Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE) Office of Educator Excellence (OEE) wishes to celebrate teachers across Michigan for the entire month of May. Please share this with families with your Smores.

Please follow the directions on the flyer. Videos and parental consent may be submitted via the Teacher Appreciation Video Project Google Form. Videos are currently being accepted until Friday, April 19, 2024.
Submitted videos may be posted on the Teacher Appreciation Month webpage and the MDE’s YouTube channel. The Office of Educator Excellence Facebook (@MIeducator) and X (formerly Twitter) social media pages will be promoting the videos throughout the month of May.

Attendance Matters!
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
