Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi

Amulet starts with a family tragedy and moves into a fantastical world developed by Emily's ancestor. I enjoyed the story and the artwork. The book reminds me of a modern, mechanical, Alice in Wonderland. I would recommend Amulet to anyone who enjoys alternate worlds and a strange cast of characters.

Growing up my family had many holiday traditions. Some of the events took planning and multiple families getting together. One of my favorite traditions just involved sitting in front of the TV with my parents. Three short Christmas commercials have been playing on my hometown TV station since my mom was a little girl.
