Greetings families!

Just one week till Spring Break!

Quick shout out to Mr. Mejdrich and our 6th Grade Band, their performance at Hillsboro High School went incredibly well as our Otters played for a very large audience-super proud! Also, Mrs. Jones and our Battle of the Books Teams. So much practice, dedication and hard work went onto these extracurricular activities, work and effort beyond the school day. I know these students and staff are not alone in their effort and energy as basketball season comes to a close too. Congrats!

During Spring Break, our students have accepted a challenge from the Hillsboro Hops to read, read, read! All students who return their reading log will receive a voucher for a Hops/Soñadores game in April or May, with the exception for opening day. The class with the most reading logs turned in will get a mascot visit for a live read of a book from the Hillsboro Hops Book series. We will put your child's log in their backpack later this week! Please keep an eye out for it and encourage your child/children to participate! We hope you enjoy a laughter filled Spring Break with your family, looking forward to seeing you in April! Library on the Loose! & Spring Break Activities

Library on the Loose is a great opportunity to connect your child to reading materials! The Hillsboro Public Library will be coming to your neighborhood on *We are also working on other dates and locations in our area off Brookwood.

Hillsboro Public Libraries are offering fun activities for young children over spring break: Crumpling Paper Balls, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Shute Park; Towering Towers, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Brookwood; and DIY Rainbow Scratch-Off Paper, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Shute Park. Drop in and have some fun!

Free Chess Tournament this weekend!

HSD students, staff, family members, and friends are invited to participate in a free chess tournament at South Meadows Middle School on Saturday, March 22. Arrive by 7:30 a.m. to check in; tournament play begins at 8 a.m. and ends at noon. Sign up at this link with access code chess2025. Questions? Contact Larry Dickinson.

Attendance & Routines

A quick note, to encourage you to have your child arrive at 7:50am, while the school day officially starts at 8 am, we have many students who trickle in after 8am. 5-10 mintues can make all the difference in setting up the day for young children. Our school district goal for each child is 90% or better attendance across the school year. Being late to school, is tough for the front office to keep up with and kids to enter as their classmates have already started. Thank you for your help!

10th Annual Proud to be HSD Festival

Mark your calendars for the 10th Annual Proud to be HSD Festival on Saturday, May 10 in downtown Hillsboro. This is our annual showcase of student achievement and talent and we can’t wait to see you there! Stay tuned for additional details.Tamarack's mascot, Scout the Otter will be there!

Reminder Kindergarten Registration is Open!

If you have a child or have a neighbor who has a child that will turn 5 by September 1st, please enroll! This helps us get a better picture of incoming numbers, to plan for classrooms and teaching postions.
