WHAT'S HAPPENING?
HALLOWEEN IN HIGH SCHOOL
Yes, we have many students who wear costumes to school on Halloween day and we encourage that kind of spirit in any kid! We just need them to remember a few things before they decide to put on their costumes:
- No masks of any kind. We need to be able to identify all of our students at any time to keep our campus safe.
- No inappropriate costumes that do not follow our Dress Code.
- No fake weapons of any kind.
- No costumes that make noises that will disrupt instruction.
- No blood and gore.
Again, school appropriate is what we need! Thank you for your help in communicating this to your kiddos.
ORO VALLEY NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
The Oro Valley Police Department is excited to host National Night Out on Friday, October 25, 2024. This event will be combined with their annual Halloween Safe Treats celebration.
This year, they're putting a special emphasis on children and community safety. Join us from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter, located at 2150 E. Tangerine Rd, Oro Valley, AZ 85755.
Attendees can look forward to prizes, candy, and a fun-filled evening. Costumes are encouraged for all ages!
Last year’s event saw outstanding participation, with around 5,000 people joining in, and they're aiming to make this year’s event even more successful!

IB Environmental Systems & Societies
CDO Environmental Club
IB Environmental Systems & Societies and CDO Environmental Club students got their feet wet with field studies in Tucson's Santa Crus River in October. As part of their water pollution unit learning, students traveled to a flowing section of the Santa Cruz River at Crossroads at Silverbell Park where they learned aquatic field work techniques used to assess water quality.
Their overall assessment of the water quality was fair, and their assessment of doing field work was that it was super fun!
Environmental Club president Vincent Leon holds a dissolved oxygen probe in the water while ESS student Sean Gossen takes the reading on a cell phone via Bluetooth.
ESS student Mia Salgado fills up a turbidity tube, which measures water clarity.
ESS students Vic Van Cleave and Charlie Smith separate aquatic organisms sampled from the riverbed to be tallied.
ESS students Marley White and Vic Van Cleave use dichotomous keys to identify different aquatic macroinvertebrates.

Southern Arizona Construction Career Days Event, students are introduced to a multitude of construction trades as well as college and career opportunities. The students get to play games and have some hands-on experience while learning about the multitude of opportunities in the Construction Technologies field! Students had an amazing time at this annual event. They represented our school with gratitude and appreciation for the volunteers at the event. Thank you to the school, district and counselors for supporting our CTE programs. It is a truly amazing event!
