EOG Test Taking Tips
The EOG typically has 60 questions – all multiple choice.
Achievement levels of 3, 4 or 5 indicate a passing score on the Science EOG.
- Read all directions carefully
- Skim questions to attempt identifying key concepts
- Use the process of elimination on multiple choice questions
- If you are stuck on a question, move on and return to it later
- Take time to answer all questions. A blank response is the same as an incorrect response
Here are some questions that the NC Department of Instruction have provided that are similar to what students will see on their EOG for each unit/topic of study.
Rising 11th & 12th graders- Internship Opportunity
Save the Date: Mon. May 20 6:00-7:00pm Parenting with Eyes Wide Open
The PCS Student Support Department will be hosting another Parenting with Eyes Wide Open series, Mental Health Matters for parents on May 20th from 5:30-7:30. We will have Mr. Philip Terry with Core Essentials and other professional presenters that night. The impact of social media on your child's mental health. Warning signs of anxiety and depression and what to do.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Please be mindful of your child's attendance these last few weeks of school. Our synchronous classes require students to be logged in with cameras on for the full period to be counted present. It is important as we prepare for the end of year assessments and final projects that all students remain engaged and active in their courses. You may view attendance and grades in PowerSchool and contact your child's teacher with any issues or concerns.
PCC Registration
Summer and Fall registration are now open for PCC! Please schedule a meeting with Ms. Oakley here to discuss course options for next year. All applications should already be submitted. If you have not turned in your application, please email Ms. Oakley ASAP.
Students entering 12th grade are required to have a booster (second) dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine if they have not already received one. Rising Seniors that have not already submitted this information should have received an email last week entitled “Required Vaccinations for Rising Seniors”.
An up-to-date immunization record indicating that your student has received the required immunization is due by the first day of attendance at school. If proof of immunization is not provided within 30 calendar days after school entry, your student will not be allowed to attend school until it is provided, as required by law. The grace period of 30 days will end on the 30th day of your child’s first day of attendance.
Please contact your healthcare provider or local health department about your child needing this vaccine. For additional information about the vaccine, the disease it protects against, and other recommended vaccines your teen may need, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website at https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/by-age/years-13-18.html.
Please submit this documentation for your student as you acquire it. If you have any questions, please contact Nurse West (westma@person.k12.nc.us).

Our program is designed to focus on effectively providing a high-quality, virtual learning environment for all students and we ask that families commit to being enrolled for the entire school year. Student engagement is critical in the virtual learning environment; therefore, students will be expected to keep their cameras on during synchronous (live) instruction with their teachers and peers. Attendance will be taken based on this policy. There will also be opportunities daily for students to work asynchronously and having parent/family support is strongly encouraged.
While we are able to instruct our students virtually, all district and state-mandated assessments will need to be conducted in person onsite at our location. Assessment schedules and detailed instructions will be provided in advance of each district and state-mandated assessment for 5-12 students.
