Great News for Readers!
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computer program that helps parents manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child selects a book rather than having one assigned to them and reads it at their own pace. This makes reading a much more enjoyable experience as they can choose books that are interesting to them. They may also read articles of interest right on the screen. When finished, your child will take a short quiz on the computer. (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.) In addition, when an LP meeting comes up, you can easily print up the list of books that your child read and share it with your HST.
If you are interested in signing up for Accelerated Reader, please let your HST know. They will be happy to assist you.
Every Kid in a Park!
To help engage and create our next generation of park visitors, supporters and advocates, Federal Land Management agencies, launched the Every Kid in a Park initiative. The immediate goal is to provide an opportunity for each and every 4th-grade student across the country to experience their federal public lands and waters in person throughout the school year.
Every year, beginning September 1, all kids in the fourth grade have access to their own Every Kid in a Park pass at www.everykidinapark.gov. This pass provides free access to national parks across the country.
The Every Kid in a Park pass is good for the 4th grade school year, until August 31, 2019. Information on obtaining the pass is available by visiting www.everykidinapark.gov.

This Week's Vendor Spotlight: On Stage Production Co.
On Stage Production Company provides unique and fun Performing Arts and Creative Writing Classes. Students will learn life skills to help them develop character and build confidence. Come be a part of this exciting blended experience! Classes are located in Temecula and Murrieta areas.
Performing arts and creative writing classes consist of: Short story and essay writing, poetry, writing and acting in plays, improv, speech and presentation, entrepreneurship, special effects makeup, JR. Puppet Theater, teen acting groups, and a full play production every semester. On Stage also provides tutoring in English, Math and Acting and also has a 3 hour drop off enrichment day. They have classes located in Murrieta and Temecula areas as well as they offer Co-Op style classes where they come to you! You can pick from any of our current or past classes or you can have a custom class
made for you.
Kids Have a Voice
The arts are fantastic for children. From the young age of 5, a child can sit down and make color choices for the characters in their coloring book. They love stories: silly, scary, repetitive, and rhyming. We are fascinated by their minds and ideas because we are usually surprised, and we love surprises! That is why at On Stage Production Co. we are committed to helping every child find their voice.
We want to create a trusting environment where a child feels free to say how they see this humongous crazy world. We encourage them to break out of their shells and we help them build their confidence. How do we do that? Through poetry, playwriting, and improvisation mixed with dramatic performance opportunities. It is only through doing and accomplishing and through failing and succeeding that we gain self-esteem. Our goal is to help each child find their confident voice.

Your child can choose an avatar to represent him or herself while on ABCmouse.com and get rewarded for completing learning activities with tickets! The Tickets and Rewards System makes learning a game and also teaches important math skills as children keep track of tickets earned and spent.
This program covers:
- Reading and Language Arts - Uppercase and lowercase letter recognition, phonics, rhyming words, word families, more than 450 books and beginning readers, sentence structure, and parts of speech.
- Math - Recognizing and counting numbers 1–120, the base ten system, place value, addition and subtraction, names and attributes of 2D and 3D shapes, length, time, and money measurement.
- Science and Social Studies - The body and health, plants and animals, weather, climate, and the seasons, Earth's environments, maps, regions of the United States, the Solar System, matter and its properties.
- Arts and Colors - Primary and secondary colors, shades of colors, paint-by-number activities, number and letter dot-to-dots.

Hi everyone! I am a mom of 3 awesome kids ranging in age from 10 to 6 years old. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 16 years. Having homeschooled our children over the last 6 years in 3 different states, I've found homeschooling here in California, especially with Inspire Charter, has been a great fit for our homeschool journey. I am grateful for our ability to homeschool so freely and I aspire to assist other families with their own homeschool adventures!
