Spring has Sprung
Happy April! It's Spring and the new spring season brings a sense of rejuvenation and renewal. With blooming flowers, chirping birds and longer days filled with sunshine, spring symbolizes growth and new beginnings. Spring provides a great opportunity for students to learn and grow as they discover new things in their environment. It is also the time of year when our students begin to feel the end of the school year is near. Continue to encourage your child to do their very best and compliment their efforts as they push through to the end of the year.

LOTS OF LEARNING AT LLANO
For the month of April, Preschool students will be introduced to the theme Animals All Around. We will review numbers 0-10, continue practice writing numbers 0-10, and we will introduce numbers 11-18. Eureka math introduces using linear and circular configurations to count objects and discusses one more and one less. For literacy, we will introduce the letters Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, and Yy and will focus on writing them. Our family take home project will be a family tree.
In Kindergarten, students will continue to blend CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words. Our Fundations phonics activities will include using letter sounds to tap the word out to blend and read, learn final diagraphs, sentence dictation, making nonsense words and decoding.
Math, students will learn how to add and subtract to 10 and Number Pairs. Practice working with your child on their addition and subtraction at home.
New Sight Words this month are: was, are, be, do, had, ten, but, want, lot, not. Continue to work with your child on all the sight words they are learning this year.
