Working together; succeeding together. Working together; succeeding together.

As Treaty people, we take this moment to honor the lands of Treaties 4 and 6, and all they have provided to us and our families across many generations. These lands have long served as traditional meeting grounds, gathering places, and traveling routes for the Cree, Dene, Nakota, Dakota, Saulteaux, and Ojibway peoples since time immemorial. We also recognize these lands as the homeland of Métis Nation Eastern Region II.

We honor the ancestors whose footsteps have shaped these lands. We acknowledge that our use of these lands has come at a profound cost, including the impacts of colonialism and the residential school system. With this recognition, we commit to working together toward reconciliation and forging a path forward that honors the past and builds a better future for all.

Beat Bites BBQers

There are many firsts for the students in Bear Bites. Last week KL and HP BBQed for the first time. They told me that they had never BBQed before, but you couldn't tell, they cooked about 21lb of pork to perfection. We then sliced it and made delectable pork tacos, a customer favorite.

Bio 30 Dissections

We have been studying tissues and organs in bio 30. Our assignment is to compare the anatomy of a rat to the anatomy of a human. How de we learn about rat anatomy? We dissect them.

Kindergarten Mothers' Day Tea

Last week, the K class hosted their annual Mothers' Day Tea. The students greeted their moms (and Grammas) at the door, served them some goodies, gave them some homemade artwork, and sang them some songs.

Middle Years Executive Functioning

What is executive functioning? They are the skills that we use to star and sustain tasks, to organize our lives, as well as many other things. More and more students struggle with these skills so we have been helping them develop these skills in our middle years classrooms. Mrs. Mielke has been working with the students to build up their skillset in task initiation, getting started.

Volunteer of the Month

Mr. Mielke

Mr. Mielke gets the nod this month. Many behind the scenes roles are picked up by Mr. Mielke, especially the ugly stuff nobody else wants to do, such as canteen shifts and financial reporting after events. He is also gearing up for their first ever home Jr. NBA tourney. Thank you for all the extra things and support you bring to BEARS Athletics, they do not go unnoticed.

Athletes of the Month

Zack Kirkland

Zack has been honing his badminton skills in an impressive manner. He works hard to improve and doesn’t shy away from work or a challenge. Zack is a very sportsmanlike player that brings a positive vibe to our gym. You know what they say, April showers bring May flowers and that Zac Kirkland is pretty good at badminton. Great job Zack.

Brylee Smith

Brylee Smith put together a solid showing in badminton with her partner in crime Amitiel. Brynlee’s strength, smarts and leadership can be noticed immediately as it has helped paved they way for the doubles duo to have a strong year. Being only grade 10 we are excited to see what the pair can do in the future. Nice work Brynlee.

Looking for Volleyball Coaches

Bears Athletics is looking for volleyball coaches for the upcoming season. Please contact the school if your would be interested in helping out.
