Chisholm Update
August 30, 2024

Happy Friday Chisholm Families!
What a difference a week makes with the weather. It was great for our students to get outside for recess this week and play outside after experiencing so my cold and inside days that last several weeks. It was also great to have a full week of school!
2024-25 Yearbooks - The deadline to purchase a 2024-25 yearbook today Friday, February 28.
You can now order your yearbooks from the Jostens' website by clicking this link. We typically don't get many extra yearbooks when they get delivered, so please purchase your yearbook before next week's deadline to secure your yearbook.
Even though we've missed several days of in-person instruction the last couple of weeks, our 3rd graders were able to perform their program this week to students on Wednesday and Thursday, and to parents and family members last evening. They did such an amazing job for the limited practice time and our teachers also did an amazing job preparing them for these shows. Great job 3rd Grade!
I've added the March lunch menu to this newsletter, which can be found below. There is also information Girls Stem Night at the Francis Tuttle Portland Campus on March 27 from 5:30 to 8:00. This event is for girls in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
Hard to believe that are two weeks away from Spring Break. Next Friday, we will be kicking off our annual Penny Wars with jars being available in the media center for students to show their support for Thunder, OSU, and OU. We will be collecting money through Thursday, March 13 and will be able to announce the winning team and total at Charge Up on March 14. To accompany Penny Wars and Swine Week, we will have some dress up days during the week, and a flyer has been added below outlining these days for students that wish to participate.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the warmer weather!

Swine Week and the Common Thread - Edmond Memorials annual fundraiser, Swine Week, should be ramping up in the next few weeks as we get towards the end of January. A flyer has been added below from Memorial High School outlining some events that our students can participate in over the coming weeks. This year's Swine Week recipient is The Comeback Kid Society. This group provides assistance to young students residing in foster group homes, juvenile detentions, and treatment centers.
The Common Thread is the Edmond Middle School and Elementary fundraiser that supports a different organization and runs at the same time as the high school philanthropic weeks. This year's Common Thread recipient is No Boundaries International, which is a faith-based, trauma-informed organization that connects those that want to help with those that need help the most. Our fundraising event for the common thread will be our annual penny wars, which will kick off the week before spring break (Friday, March 7 - Thursday, March 14).
Arrival Drop-off Procedure Reminders - Please help us in making sure students safely to school by following these procedures:
- If you’d like to stay in your car, enter the drop-off using the entrance by our school marquee. Students can exit via passenger side of car using the sidewalk and entering the building towards our front doors. Do not drop students off in the west parking lot.
- If you don't want to use the drop-off line, you may park your vehicle and walk your students through the parking lot to one of the crosswalks. Please wait for the duty teacher to tell you when to cross. Do not allow your child to walk in the parking lot unattended by an adult.
- Do not use one of the handicapped parking spaces without proper identification on display.
- If you arrive after 8:45 and the duty teachers have entered the building, please plan to park and walk your child into the building to check them in using the kiosk by our office.
Dismissal Reminders
At the end of the day, we ask that early checkouts happen before 3:00. If your student is a 33rd Street Walker, they should live in Old Farm or Thornbrook. If your student is a Spring Hill Walker, they should live in the Springhill Neighborhood or the subsequent neighborhoods that are too close to receive bus transportation. Students that ride a bus will load from the gym once their bus arrives at school. If you need specifics on bus numbers and times please click this link, which will ask you to fill out your address.
Car Riders will need to use the Red Hangtag, which was given out at Meet the Teacher. (If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, our office is open 8-3:30 on Wednesday August 14.) Please be sure to make sure this tag is visible to the person out front entering the number by our marquee. Once their number has been entered, students will come out of the building by the first grade hallway and be positioned by one of the concrete bollards numbered 1-6 (please be sure to stay out far enough aways from the bollards so your car door doesn't get dinged). If you don't have your hangtag, you will need to pull in and check your student out from the office. There is a button below that goes through the Car Rider procedures.
