Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We wrapped up the week in an unexpected way with no buses running on Friday, but overall, it was a great way to close out January. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended our school council meeting on the 27th. Attendees even got to experience an impromptu fire drill after a pull station was accidentally triggered by a ball. Fortunately, it was a false alarm, but it gave us a valuable opportunity to practice our emergency procedures after school.
The Alberta Education Assurance Measures survey will soon be available to parents. This survey allows you to share your thoughts on what is going well in our school and where we can improve. As a staff, we use this feedback to guide our priorities and make meaningful adjustments. Survey links and access codes will be mailed to parents, and we strongly encourage participation—your input helps provide a clearer picture of our school's strengths and areas for growth. Please note that the survey is designed to capture an overview of the school rather than individual experiences. Additionally, if you select "Don't Know" for a question, it registers as a "No," which may affect our overall results. If you're unsure about a question, we encourage you to reach out to the office or your child’s teacher for clarification.
For your reference, I have attached the notice regarding the failed ratification vote for staff in the document below.
Looking ahead, very cold temperatures are in the forecast for next week. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather when traveling to and from school. Students participating in the Polar Bear Club must have all the necessary winter gear to take part.
A friendly reminder that early dismissal is on February 5th. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM, and buses will arrive at that time.
Finally, a huge thank you to Peers Farm and Feed for sponsoring this week’s hot lunch—we truly appreciate your generosity!
Have a great weekend,
Bailey Benson

Learning in Action
Matching Games
Our Junior Kindergarten students have been busy developing their skills through engaging, hands-on activities. They’ve been exploring colors, practicing matching skills, and building their gross motor abilities through movement-based play. It’s wonderful to see their excitement as they learn and grow!
Penguin Painting
Our K/1 students have been getting creative with a guided penguin drawing and painting activity. They’ve been following step-by-step instructions to bring their penguins to life, adding their own unique touches along the way. It’s been a fun way to build fine motor skills while exploring art!
Bucket Drumming
Our 2/3 students have been having a blast learning bucket drumming! They’ve been practicing how to keep a steady beat and follow rhythmic patterns, building both their musical skills and coordination. It’s been exciting to see their enthusiasm as they drum along together!
Athletics
Even thought we have a short week coming, our basketball players still have two games, one of them being a home game against YKCS! We would love to see you come down and cheer on our teams.
