Your Lister News from the Lister News Team
Lister does the West End
Our Wonderful Lister students went to see a matinee performance of Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre. What a fantastic opportunity to see a theatrical masterpiece. 'Hamilton' tells the story of Alexander Hamilton - one of the Founding Fathers of America and the right hand man of George Washington. The musical follows Hamilton from his early life up until his death in the infamous duel with Aaron Burr. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (who also wrote the songs for Moana and Encanto!) the musical has won dozens of awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 11 Tony and 7 Olivier awards.
Our Lister students were able to stay behind after the performance for a question and answer session with the cast - perhaps inspiring a new generation to take to the stage or write that next smash hit musical!
Year 11 Arts Exhibition!
Save the Date: Year 11 Arts Exhibition
Join us to celebrate the work of our talented, creative students.
Drop in on Friday 24th May between 3:15-18:00 - to see an exhibition of the wonderful work that our inspirational year 11 students have completed in their creative subjects. Often the work of GCSE students is completed in an exam hall and sent off to be marked by an examiner - parents and carers are not given the chance to celebrate the culmination of all of the years of effort that has gone into producing these final pieces of GCSE work. In answer to this, we at Lister School wanted to share with you all the chance to see an exhibition of the creative work completed by students for their art, photography and textiles courses. Please come along to enjoy the work of this talented group.

- We have introduced 'Lesson Champions' to our end of lesson routines. If you see a Lesson Champion Sticker, please ask your child what they learnt in the lesson and celebrate this at home,
Lister's Boys' Basketball Team Bouncing into the Playoffs
Over the past months the Year 9 boys' basketball team have been competing in the London Lions x Greenhouse Sports league. They currently have a record of 2-0 with the final league game being played on Friday the 26th of April Vs Kingsford. Due to the team's record they will be progressing to the playoffs.
The Year 8 and 9 Girls' teams were given homework to help them better understand the world of women's basketball and create posters over the half term period, with some great work being produced that will be displayed in the school's Gymnasium.
With more games planned in the near future across all years and teams, we hope to continue to build upon what we have already achieved.
