πSolar Eclipse Activities Planned at PCR-3, April 8
You may have heard about the solar eclipse that will occur on April 8, 2024, visible across North America. While we are not in the path of totality, we'll have about 88% coverage in our area, with eclipse phenomena from approximately 1-3pm and peaking just before 2pm. Science teachers and other staff members in each of our buildings are organizing lessons and activities around the event and all students will receive specialized solar filter eclipse glasses and will have the opportunity to view the eclipse.
Click here for additional information about the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
π« Students Checking In and Out of School
Reminder:
Students arriving late to school, no matter the time, must check in at the welcome center and get a pass.
Students leaving early must checkout at the welcome center and CANNOT LEAVE IF WE DO NOT HAVE PARENT PERMISSION. If they are going to an appointment and check out early, they need a dr. note to turn in at the welcome center when they check back in.
Parents, please call as early as you can so we can be sure your student is released on time.
Students and Teacher of the Month - February
Diana Alberty Taveras
Wren Wilkins
Gabriel Miller
"Gabriel is one of the kindest, most hard-working students in this building. He was on yearbook staff last year, but when he made Sound Express and it made a schedule conflict this year he still committed to working on yearbook outside of being in the class.... He is exceptional. Beyond how he helps with yearbook production, I do not know a kinder student. He is always thinking of others and enjoys helping people. I am often blown away by how he puts everyone else first and how hard he works to maintain his grades and meet his goals."
Tug Thornton
"Tug can be seen at many sporting events working on the graphics that are being presented to the many fans that come to support our student-athletes. He can be seen interacting with our visitors in a positive manner and he has been doing a phenomenal job in representing himself on behalf of PCHS."

Mary Dickson
English Learners teacher
"Mary works so unbelievably hard for her underrepresented students. She is so passionate for providing equality and equity to her students who come to this country and school with proficient to limited to no English skills.
She has advocated for a stronger ELL program throughout the district and taken on opportunities for professional development focused on ELL programs and the legal state requirements to make sure she knows what she's doing to properly accommodate and serve her children.
This fierce advocate is such a blessing to all the students who get to work with her. She is welcoming to all people and willing to fight for them, no matter how much sleep or time with her family she must sacrifice to do so. To say we are lucky to have her is an understatement."

π Bullying and Safety Concerns: Online Reporting System
Safety is one of our districtβs top priorities, and to help safeguard our school community, our District uses Safe Schools Alert, a tip reporting service by Vector Solutions, that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.
You and your child can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through this online reporting system. On the homepage of the District website (www.plattecountyschooldistrict.com) and on each school building's homepage there is a Safe Schools quicklink which links to the reporting tool. Every tip Vector Solutions receives about our District is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. Tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer. Together, we can make our District a safer place to learn.
