CALENDAR
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
https://forms.gle/K2t51NEuK28bHxuj9Hey Bourchier Families,
August is shaping up to be a super busy month, and we’ve got a lot of exciting things on the go!
Our junior students have been working their socks off on this year’s production, and it’s almost showtime! The big day is Wednesday, August 28th at Eastbank. If you haven’t grabbed your tickets yet, jump on QKR to sort it out as soons as possible. It’s going to be a fantastic evening, and I can’t wait to see our kids perform on the big stage at Eastbank.
Book Day is coming up next Thursday, August 22nd, and it’s always one of the highlights of the year. The students have been busy voting for their favourite shortlisted books, and I’ve seen some sneak peeks of the costumes, they’re going to be amazing! We’ll kick things off with a parade in the morning, and parents, you’re more than welcome to come along and enjoy the fun. After the parade, we’ll be celebrating all things books with some multi-age group activities. It’s going to be a day full of literary magic!
We’re also excited to welcome our future Bourchier students with the first transition session for the 2025 group on Friday, August 30th. Fingers crossed for some good weather so we can spend some time outside getting to know each other. It’s a big step for these little ones, and we’re looking forward to welcoming them all into our school for the first time.
Father’s Day is just around the corner, and we’ve got a couple of things planned to celebrate all the awesome dads and special people out there. The Father’s Day Stall will be open on Thursday, August 29th, and Friday, August 30th for the kids to pick up something special. Then, on Friday morning, we’re hosting a Father’s Day breakfast with bacon and egg rolls. Make sure to pre-order your rolls using this link provided so we can make sure there’s plenty to go
We’re hosting the Public Speaking regional finals at our school in a couple of weeks, and I’m so proud to say we’ve got two of our very own representing Bourchier. Thomas Ash, Marleah McLeigh, Jimmy Morrison, Alexa Thu, Eva Watson and Trini Atkinson all did Bourchier proud representing our school at Kialla West last month.
Our teachers have been doing lots of thinking and learning about reading recently and it has prompted me to write a little bit about the importance of making reading a regular part of your child’s routine at home. It’s not just about improving their literacy skills—reading together can be a great way to bond, spark conversations, and open up new worlds for them. Plus, research shows that kids who read regularly outside of school tend to do better academically. So, whether it’s a bedtime story or a quiet reading time after school, every little bit helps!
Lastly, I want to give a quick shoutout about the 2024 Parent Opinion Survey. It’s a really important survey that helps us understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve. You should have received details on how to complete it via Compass. Please take a few minutes to fill it out—we really value your feedback!
As you can see, there’s a lot happening at Bourchier, and we are all looking forward to sharing all these great moments with you and the kids in the next couple of week's.

FOUNDATION CELEBRATE 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL
To mark 100 days of school, our foundation year students dressed up as elderly people, complete with grey hair, wrinkles, glasses and walking sticks. They did an amazing job and looked convincingly old. The day was filled with fun, activities including a picnic. It was a wonderful celebration for our foundation students. See how old our teachers looked in picture below!
FROM GARDEN TO TABLE!
Our Year 3 & 4s have been busy in the kitchen this week baking cheesy baked kale bites, spicy pumpkin soup and banana muffins.
From garden to table these students have shown incredible enthusiasm and creativity, turning fresh produce into tasty dishes.
With their hands-on experience having grown some of these ingredients from scratch it has given them a deeper appreciation for where their food comes from.

ATTENTION JUNIOR SCHOOL
Preventing the spread of Ilness in School
As the cold weather arrives, so do coughs, colds, stomach bugs and other respiratory illnesses.
It is important that we practice good hygiene, such as washing our hands, hand sanitiser, and using tissues when we cough or sneeze.
If your child is away due to sickness, please update their absence via our Compass App.
Arriving to school on time
Arriving to school on time is crucial for both students and staff. It sets a positive tone for the day, ensures that you don’t miss important instructions or activities, and demonstrates respect for the school community’s time and schedule. Here are a few tips to help ensure timely arrival:
1. Prepare the night before: Lay out clothes, pack your bag, and prepare lunch the night before to avoid morning delays.
2. Set an alarm: This will help give you ample time to get ready and commute to school.
3. Stay organized: Keep track of your schedule and any special activities or events that might require you to arrive earlier than usual.
Being on time helps create a structured and efficient learning environment for everyone involved.
If you’re picking your student up early
If a parent/guardian needs to pick up their student early from school for an appointment or any other significant reason, please notify your child’s teacher or the front office, with as much notice possible.
Often students are in a specialist program or out of the classroom, so if no notice is given it puts pressure on the office staff when trying to find students whilst answering phones and tending to sick bay.
Please be mindful as we have quite a few students leaving school early which interrupts the classroom as well as their learning time so please avoid this when possible.
PARENT PAYMENT AND STATIONERY FOR 2024
Parent payment can be made via QKR
Parent payment $220 per student
Excursion Levy $80 per student
If you have a Health Care Card and claimed CSEF, you will receive $150 credit which can be used for camps and excursions only.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS
All children are expected to wear full school uniform
The wearing of school uniform helps children develop a sense of identity with the school community.
The school uniform helps promote a positive image of both students and the school to the general community. The wearing of school uniform promotes equality.
The school uniform is to be worn during school hours, while traveling to and from school, and when the students are on school excursions.
All school uniform must be clearly named so that lost items can be identified.
Jackets and hats can be purchased from the school. Shepparton retail shops stock the entire uniform. The school endeavors to provide pre-loved items at the cheapest possible cost.
Please refer to our Student Dress Code Policy
