PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Happy Friday Ridgeview Families!
HERE ARE YOUR UPDATES FOR THE NEXT WEEK
Our state testing is finally completed, but we do have one last round of assessments to take before we’re all said and done for the year. Tuesday May 7th and Thursday May 9th students will be taking their End of Year (EOY) iReady Reading and Math assessments. These tests will be conducted just like our state tests, as we’ll be on a 2-hour delay bell schedule both days. As a reminder, school still begins at 7:15 am. Students are to charge their chromebooks at night in preparation and all students' electronics will be collected until the testing window is complete.
Next week is Staff Appreciation Week! Families, if you have a favorite Ridgeview teacher or staff member, we encourage you to show them some love to brighten their day. Our staff works hard daily to provide the best educational experience possible for our scholars. It’s important that we show them appreciation for their hard work! We are also looking for food donations for our 8th grade/staff cookout being held on Wed May 8th. The food sign-up can be found here. It is also down in our PTO section of the newsletter. Thank you in advance for your support.
Ridgeview was awarded a grant to begin a boys mentoring program called Young Men of Excellence. This program will be run next school year beginning with select 8th grade boys, with the hope we can expand the program to 7th grade boys as well. We’re very excited for the opportunity and grateful to the Pickerington Education Foundation (PEF) for choosing us this year.
Lastly, as the weather continues to get better and the days get longer, there’s a tendency for behaviors to also increase. We have 3 full weeks left in the school year and we’d love to have everyone here with us until the end on May 29th. However, as much as we love your kiddos, we will have peace during the last 3 full weeks with or without them. Please press upon your student about continuing to adhere to our TIGER expectations every single day or summer break could come early for them. If you ever have any questions about our TIGER expectations and/or the district behavior matrix, please contact an administrator.
We hope everyone enjoys the weekend. Take care and we’ll chat again next week! GO TIGERS!

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE
In the event your child needs to take prescription medication while at school, please be sure to have the Request for administration of prescription medication by school personnel (pdf) form or completed by the child’s physician and parents. Forms are available in the school office and on the website.
Nonprescription medication such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and cough drops may be administered to students if the parent/guardian sends in the medication (in original container) along with written permission for the medication to be given. Dosages cannot exceed the manufacturer’s recommendations for age and weight. (i.e., We cannot administer medication to children under 12 if the label says: “Do not administer to children under 12, except under the direction of a physician.” We need to have a note from the doctor in order to give a dose of medication that is different than the dose stated on the bottle.) All medications, prescription and non-prescription, must be sent in the original container. The policy for medicines can be found here and we encourage you to have conversations with your students about the policy.

HELP Make Our Schools Safer
The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have launched the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day.
This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.
Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to Pickerington Schools, local law enforcement agencies, and others, if necessary.
