A Message from Principal Cutone
October 4, 2024
Dear HES Caregivers,
What a beautiful start to October we’ve had here at Harwich Elementary! Our Sharks have settled into their classroom routines, academics are in full swing, and our classroom communities are thriving as students support one another.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at Shark Bites in the cafeteria this week! We encourage you to continue joining us throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to get a glimpse of your child’s school day and meet their friends. Don’t forget to ensure your CORI is up to date, then use the link below to sign up for next week.
We’re also excited to kick off after-school clubs next week! Clubs are a key part of what makes our school special, offering students the chance to connect with peers and staff, explore personal interests, and strengthen their sense of belonging. If your child can’t join this session, don’t worry—the next one begins in January. We hope every Shark participates in at least one club this year!
As we enter fall, we’re seeing the usual increase in seasonal illnesses. If your child is feeling unwell and can’t attend school, please call our office at (508-430-7216) as early as possible or send an email to phoeft@monomoy.edu. This helps us ensure everyone’s safety.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend! As always, feel free to reach out if there’s anything I can do to support your family.
Warm regards,
Christie
Important Safety Information
We love to have special grownups volunteering and visiting Harwich Elementary School. For the safety of all, please call the office to ensure that your Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) is on file and up to date. If you need to submit a new CORI, please note that it can take up to a week to process. The security check is valid for three calendar years. Thank you!
Notes from the Nurses' Office
The weather is changing rapidly. Remind your students to wear weather appropriate clothing. Putting an extra sweatshirt in their backpack often comes in handy.
Please check to make sure that you have filled out both health forms in the Aspen returning student registration. We are still missing about half of the students’ forms. Even if your child started here this year, you were asked to fill out the documentation. The Health History Form and the Over the Counter Medication Administration sections are easy to overlook. Please check to see if you have filled them out. This is very helpful for the nursing office and for your child.
Polished Dental is coming this Monday and Tuesday. Make sure you check out your child's nicely polished teeth. If you did not fill out and return your form, and you meant to, I will accept them Monday morning and see if they can be accommodated. If Polished Dental is unable to see them this time your child will be on the list for the spring.
New Mass Literacy for Families and Communities Resource
