Principal Message
Dear Parents and Students of Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
This weekend marks the start of Advent, a season of anticipation and preparation as we await the coming of Christ. At school, we’ll be reflecting on our yearly theme, Rooted in Christ in the light of Advent, and connecting it with this month’s virtue of Justice—giving to God and others what is rightfully theirs (love).
Advent invites us to focus on how we live this virtue: offering God our hearts through prayer and worship, and showing love and fairness to those around us. We respond to God's love by loving him (the preparation, the lights, the singing and worship of Christmas!) and by loving one another (the other big mark of the season: charity.) This week we engaged in a quarter drive for Lurana Shelter, a place supporting young mothers. Given the Nativity story, is there a better way to honour the Christ Child in the manger?
Next week is our Food Bank Drive (for House points, of course, because it's more fun.) More information below.
May this season deepen our connection to Christ and inspire our students to walk in His light.
In Christ,
Mr. Johnson
Principal

Dear Parents,
During this Season of Advent, all students are asked to bring in a Food Bank item(s) that will be donated to Strathcona Foodbank.
Each class is being asked to bring in specific items of some of the most highly needed items. (see list below) Our goal is to raise at least 377 items, that's only one item per student and staff. May this season deepen our connection to Christ and inspire our students to walk in His light.
Next week, December 2 to 6, 2026, your child will be able to drop off their food bank item(s) into their house bin located by the front office.
We are very thankful to those who are able to participate during this Season of Advent.
We also recognize that times are difficult for many of our families, but if you are able to make a donation it would be greatly appreciated. Many of these items can be purchased at discount stores such as Dollar Tree and Dollarama (who carry many name brand products) or if you shop at Save-On also remember to bring in your receipts for our School Council.
Thank you for your generous donations. See the list below.
God Bless.
Dear Parents,

Thank you so very much to all who donated!

Dear École Our Lady of Perpetual Help School Families,
We are thrilled to announce that our school choir, the École Our Lady of Perpetual Help School Choir, has been invited to perform the Canadian National Anthem on the ice for the Edmonton Oil Kings’ game on Saturday, January 11, at 7:00 p.m.!
To make this opportunity possible, we are required to sell a minimum of 100 tickets for the event.
We invite you to join us in supporting our choir and enjoying an exciting evening of hockey! In addition to attending yourself, this is a perfect opportunity to give the gift of an experience to someone on your Christmas list. Tickets to this special event make a thoughtful and unique holiday present, giving your loved ones a memorable evening to enjoy while supporting our talented students.
If you would like to purchase tickets, $20.00/ticket, please complete the attached order form below and return it along with payment by cash or cheque payable to Edmonton Arena Corp. All orders and payments must be submitted by December 13, 2024 to Mme Winland in the school office, and not to your homeroom teacher. Tickets will be sent home with your child once your order is processed.
This is a wonderful chance for our students to showcase their talent and represent our school community on a big stage. We hope to see many of you there cheering them on!
Thank you for your support, and let’s make this a memorable event for our choir and our school!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nakonechny emilijanan@eics.ab.ca
