The Principal's Message
Dear Cody Middle School Community,
As we dive into November, I want to take a moment to celebrate some of the great achievements and highlights from our first quarter! We have so much to be proud of here at CMS, and our students continue to amaze us with their talent, dedication, and spirit. Here are just a few of the recent accomplishments worth celebrating:
End of Quarter 1 – We made it through the first quarter! Woo Hoo! Our students have shown incredible effort, and I am so proud of the hard work they have put in.
CMS Cross Country – Our team brought home 1st place in our Conference! What an amazing accomplishment and a testament to the dedication of our runners and coaches.
CMS Volleyball – Both 7th and 8th grade teams had a fantastic season! Our 7th-grade team had a successful run ending the reason with a 9-4 record, and the 8th-grade team finished 3rd in Conference with an impressive 15-3 record. Way to go, Fillies!
CMS Football – We saw so much heart and determination on the field this year. The 7th-grade team ended with a 4-1 record, and our 8th graders fought hard with a 2-3 record. True battlers!
CMS Band Concert – What a performance! Our first band concert of the year was this past month and it was absolutely fantastic. Our band students truly brought their energy and talent to the stage.
State Accountability Report Card
During the month of October, the Wyoming Department of Education released school accountability report cards, and I am proud to share that Cody Middle School continues to be labeled as a Green school, meeting expectations on both federal and state accountability measures. Cody Middle School students averaged 11 points higher than the rest of the state last year! In fact, since WYTOPP was adopted in 2016, Cody Middle School has outperformed the state average on 40 out of 42 state assessments! These accountability requirements are based on each school’s Spring Summative WYTOPP Assessment results, further underscoring the importance of students performing their best on these assessments. Thank you to all our students, teachers, and families for the dedication that goes into meeting these standards and supporting our school’s continued success!
Friday Rewards Day
We are also looking forward to bringing back our Friday Rewards Day on Friday, November 22! This is a special day for students to celebrate their academic achievements and positive behavior with some fun activities. Permission slips will be sent home this week, so please keep an eye out for those later this week.
Thank you, families, for your support and encouragement of our students’ efforts, both in and out of the classroom. We are looking forward to even more accomplishments and milestones as we move through the second quarter. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or need anything from our team.
Here’s to another great month at CMS! Go Broncs and Fillies!
Sincerely,
Jacob R. Gogan

School Attendance Matters!
Please make sure to call the Cody Middle School Front Office if your student is going to miss school. Our number is (307) 587 - 4273. Ask to speak to Ms. Mindy Butcher.
Required Student ID
If your student rides any bus, please make sure they have their Student ID. Park 6 Transportation will begin strictly enforcing the use of Student IDs on all buses, including in-town field trips. Park 6 wants to make sure all students are safe and accounted for as well as be able to identify when and where they get on and off the bus. If your student requires a new Student ID, please let the Cody Middle School Front Office know and we will provide you with a replacement card form that you can return to us along with a $5 ID replacement fee. If you have questions, please call the Park 6 Transportation Department at 307-587-2851.
