Weekly Buzz
Lincoln High School
April 28 2025
From our Co-Principals
Dear Lincoln High School Students and Families,
Mayor Todd Gloria visits the Hive
Last week, Mayor Gloria visited Ms. Cornwell’s Financial Math classes to discuss the importance of civic engagement. During his visit, the Mayor shared his personal journey, detailing his path to becoming mayor and highlighting what he believes are the most pressing issues facing our community. He also took time to listen to our students' stories, offering valuable advice and words of encouragement.
Quarter 4 Progress Reports
Quarter 4 progress report grades will be recorded this week. Please take a moment to review your student’s grades and attendance in PowerSchool. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact your student’s teachers directly.
Please note that Quarter 4 concludes on May 29. For seniors, there is a different timeline at the end of the year. See the senior timeline below for details.
Freshman College Field Trip - University of California San Diego (UCSD)
All freshmen will participate in a field trip to UC San Diego to enhance their college knowledge and foster a sense of belonging and confidence in higher education. This experience will reinforce the idea that every student has a place in higher education, whether it’s at a four-year university, community college, or through trade certification programs.
Freshmen with Ms. Wilson and Mr. Mesman for Math will attend the field trip on Monday, May 5, while freshmen with Mr. Tortora and Mrs. Lieu (Wong) will attend on Tuesday, May 6.
National Teacher & Nurse Appreciation Week
Next week, May 5-9, is National Teacher & Nurse Appreciation Week, a special time to recognize and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and care that teachers and school nurses provide to our students and community.
We encourage students and parents to take a moment to show their appreciation for our incredible teachers. Here are a few thoughtful ways to recognize them:
Write a Thank-You Note or Card: A heartfelt note expressing how much you value their support and guidance can make a teacher's day.
Create a Personalized Gift: Students can create drawings, crafts, or small tokens that reflect their gratitude.
Share a Story or Memory: Share a positive memory or story about how the teacher has made a difference in your child's learning or life.
Send an Email of Appreciation: Parents can send a quick email to teachers acknowledging their hard work and commitment.
Gift Cards or Classroom Supplies: Small gestures like a gift card or supplies for the classroom can also be a practical way to show appreciation.
Teachers make a significant impact on the future of our children, and your recognition means the world. Let’s make this week extra special by letting them know how much they are appreciated!
Counseling Newsletter
Please be sure to read our Counseling Newsletter. It is full of important information about all the things students need to know to take advantage of preparing for college and careers.
FAFSA Support
Representatives from CalSOAP will be on campus this week to assist Seniors in completing their Financial Aid Applications. Students, please see your counselor or check the Google Classroom to sign up for one on one support.
