Drachman Is a Nationally Certified Demonstration Magnet School!
Drachman has been declared as a Nationally Certified-Demonstration Magnet School by the Magnet Schools of America Organization!
This is the highest honor awarded by the Magnet Schools of America. We were awarded it based on our commitment to Montessori principles, our celebration of student/family diversity, our safe and peaceful campus, our long-term commitment to working as educators at Drachman, and our academic achievements.
We will celebrate this accomplishment throughout the school year with our students during school hours and with our families during events coordinated by our Parent/Teacher Group.
Student Dismissal
Please help maximize the safety of Drachman during dismissal by ensuring that your child is fully aware of how he/she will be dismissed. Also, please provide advanced notice if there will be a change in dismissal for your child. If you need to take your child out early for an appointment, please try to sign your child out prior to 2:30 (1:30 on Wednesdays). Attempting to sign your child out between 2:30 – 2:45 (1:30 -1:45 on Wednesdays) is difficult because it is the busiest time for our office staff and classrooms.
Students of all grades that ride the busses or get picked up by daycares, and students from our self-contained programs of children with Autism will dismiss from the gates off Meyer Avenue. Students who attend the Santa Rosa KIDCO will be walked to the Santa Rosa Center by Drachman Staff. Kindergarten students that get picked up by parents will dismiss through our front gates. Grades 1st – 8th will dismiss through our soccer gates by our parking lot. Parents/guardians will wait for their children outside of these gates and do not enter the campus to pick up their child(ren).
Dental Sealants Available at Drachman for 2nd and 6th Graders
New to Drachman Montessori:
The Arizona School-Based Sealant Program: Provided at no cost to the school, child or family!
Who Qualifies:
Second and Sixth grade children
• With parental consent,
• With a need for sealants,
• With no private dental insurance,
• Attending schools with a high level of participation in the Free/Reduced School Meal Program.
Why are Dental Sealants so important?
Sealants prevent tooth decay and also stop cavities from growing. The Surgeon General's report on oral health indicates that sealants can reduce decay in school children by more than 70 percent.
Parents of Kinders, 2nd and 6th graders, please watch for a permission slip to come home Monday, August 26th. (Kinder students will be receiving permission slips for fluoride.)
If you have any questions, please email Ms. Elaine in our health office or visit the Arizona Department of Health Services website.
Photo Permissions
If you opted out of any directory or photo permissions at registration, please be on the lookout next week for a permission slip requesting some specific permissions related to our Dragon of the Month, yearbook, social media, and website. Questions about the permission slips can be directed to Wendy Weeks, Magnet Coordinator.
Our Mission:
