2025 Senior Class Party
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the party through our Venmo and GoFundMe campaigns. Last week, we received almost $6,000 in donations which brings us just under $8,000 toward our $15,000 goal. We appreciate your generosity as it allows us to start locking in the activities for the party. We still have work to do.
Corporate Donations
BONUS WAY TO HELP For Thrivent Financial Members! Do you have a Thrivent account? Hopkins Senior Party is an eligible organization for both Choice Dollars and Action Teams donations. This means you can donate your 2024 Choice Dollars and/or create Action Teams up to $500 to support Hopkins Senior Party. Reach out to your Thrivent advisor - or contact Sarah Coffey at 612-812-8418 or sarah.coffey@thrivent.com for help.
We also know that companies like Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank and Verizon have been generous resources in the past. Last year this money was instrumental in purchasing prizes and gift cards. Please ask your HR Director for opportunities at your company.

Paper products (plates, cups, etc.)
Baby items (diapers, wipes, etc.)
Cleaning supplies
Gently used women's and children’s clothing
Gently used linens (towels, wash clothes, bedding, etc.)
Gently used toys

Counselor's Corner
ACT Test and Preparation
The Hopkins High School ACT test will be held on Tuesday, April 15 at HHS. ALL juniors are automatically registered to take the examination. We encourage all juniors to take advantage of this opportunity as it creates pathways for scholarships for college. If you wish for your child NOT to take the ACT, please email Dr. Kuhl by February 14, 2025.
At the beginning of Term 3, your junior scholar will receive weekly emails and videos from Dr. Kuhl to their school email detailing a study plan for that week's ACT preparation. Please make sure you talk to your scholars' about their Winward Academy assignments.
If scholars have any questions, they can stop by and see Dr. Kuhl. michelle.kuhl@hopkinsschools.org
Appointments with Counselors
Parents/Guardians: If you wish to meet with your scholar’s counselor, please schedule an appointment by emailing the counselor to ensure they will be available to meet with you. School counselors' schedules fill up fast. Thank you for your understanding, partnership, and cooperation.

Alerting them if course requirements and prerequisites have not been met.
Notifying them if they haven’t registered for enough credits for the academic year.
Below is a preview of the Academic Plan interface that scholars will see in Infinite Campus when registration opens:

Hopkins Schools Information and Opportunities
Message from Carleton College - Summer Opportunities
Carleton College is reaching out to connect high achieving 9-11th grade students with our Summer Liberal Arts Institute (SLAI), running for three weeks this July on campus. We are particularly interested in recruiting students from Hopkins. This Pre-College program is a unique opportunity designed to provide a liberal arts college experience to high school students, from the application process to earning credit.
This coming summer, SLAI will offer six interdisciplinary college-credit courses:
Humanities: Examination of how humans tick through History, Mapmaking, Art History, Literature, and Art.
Computer Science: All experience levels welcome to seek computational solutions in Computer Vision, Robotics, Web Development, and Computer Organization.
Storytelling: Multimedia, Film Music, Cognitive Science, Creative Writing.
Thinking About Feelings: Literature, Film, Comedy, Cognitive Science, and Psychology
STEM in the Field: Geology, Ecology, Ornithology (Birds), and Environmental Science
Reimagining Society: Sociology, German Studies, Political Science
A SLAI student might already be passionate about one of the disciplines listed above or is simply intellectually curious and hungry for a challenge. Our commitment to diversity extends beyond just our approach to academics, with over half of our domestic participants identifying as students of color, over one-third are first-generation, and 40% receiving financial assistance.

Hopkins Education Foundation News
The Hopkins Education Foundation (HEF) will be fundraising for a new special project, Outdoor Opportunities, at the Royal Bash gala on March 1 at the Metropolitan Ballroom. Each year, HEF partners with Hopkins Public Schools on a project that will have a districtwide impact. This year’s project will inspire Hopkins students to develop outdoor and leadership skills, build community, and experience joy and connection to the natural world with activities like camping, hiking, canoeing, and more. Funds raised at the Royal Bash will make the class trips listed below possible for students in the District, help the outdoor program acquire more gear, and create an Outdoor Opportunities Fund for scholarships for future trips. We hope this project will create new outdoor traditions for years to come.
Elementary: Fifth grade day trip to YMCA Camp Ihduhapi
Middle School: Eighth grade day trip to YMCA Camp Ihduhapi
High School: Camping trip for up to 120 students
Outdoor Gear: Expand the High School inventory of camping, hiking, and outdoor gear, to help make it possible for all kids to have outdoor learning experiences, regardless of income.
Outdoor Opportunities Fund: Any additional funds raised will be placed in a scholarship fund to make future outdoor trips accessible to our low income families.
Tickets for the Royal Bash are on sale now. Join with parents, teachers, district leaders and community members to celebrate and support at the Royal Bash. Tickets and info at HopkinsEducationFoundation.org.
