Changes to our Attendance Policy for the 24-25 School Year
Please note there is a change to our Attendance Policy for the 24-25 school year. The entire policy can be found in the updated Student Handbook that begins on page 14, but the change is indicated in the language below.
* Students may lose credit for any classes, academic and career and technical, if they have accrued twelve (12) or more unexcused absences or a total of fourteen (14) during the school year. Four (4) excused absences are built in to the fourteen (14) allowed for the year. In situations of excessive absence or tardiness, school personnel will be in contact with the student and parent or legal guardian. Documentation or verification must be provided for all excused absences.
Annual information update - Powerschool:
Returning families will receive an email from PowerSchool to create an account. If you already have an account, you do not need to take any action. All new students and new families to Keefe Tech should have received a link to complete information and upload documents. We encourage all families to create a PowerSchool account - this is where schedules, student grades, teacher comments, and attendance information can be found. If you need assistance with PowerSchool, please email powerschool@ipkeefehs.org
Updates from our Health Office:
Make sure you review the covid protocol policy change in this document!
*If you test positive for covid, you may begin to resume normal activities with precautions if:
You have not had a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medicines; AND
Your other symptoms are improving
You may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better.
For at least the first 5 days after you resume normal activities, take these extra precautions:
Avoid crowded indoor spaces. Wear a mask anytime you are indoors around other people
Wash your hands often with soap and warm water. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
Avoid spending time with people who are at increased risk for severe disease.

Summer Reading at Keefe Tech!
Reminder to keep reading!
Help us meet the school wide reading goal by starting strong this summer!
From Mrs. McDonald:
I am thrilled to share an exciting initiative from the ELA department that aligns with our core value of lifelong learning. As part of our ongoing commitment to increase literacy and foster a love of reading, we have set an ambitious community goal of reading 150,000 pages during the upcoming school year, with further ambitions when we accomplish this goal. This initiative includes participation from all staff and students.
To kick off this effort, we are launching our goal with summer reading. We encourage everyone to dive into books of any kind—whether it's fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or audiobooks. Each time you finish a book over the summer, please take a moment to complete the attached form to review your book. This will help us track our progress and share book recommendations within our community.
This inclusive goal is designed to bring our community together through the shared joy of reading, and we are excited to have everyone participate.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. Happy reading!
