Monroe Elementary News
January 7, 2021
From the Principal
Welcome back to school! It has been wonderful seeing all of the students back at school this week. I hope you had a relaxing holiday break and had time to recharge for 2022.
Next week, Monroe students will be taking the Reading and Math Map test. We will be testing throughout the week. The Map tests give us a lot of information and data about our students academic growth. To help with your child's success on these tests, please help them get plenty of rest.
Classroom teachers are starting their second round of traveling to the "Think Big Space" at Jonathan Alder High School. This is such an amazing opportunity for our students. The "Think Big Space" is a space that was developed through an Amazon donation. Students get to visit the space to take part in hands-on STEM activities. This is such a fun and enriching environment for JA students.
Have a great weekend!

Chromebook/i-Pad Student Responsibility
Chromebook/i-Pad Student Responsibility
All Jonathan Alder schools are now equipped with one Chromebook or i-Pad per child. We hope that students handle their devices with great care; however, there are consequences for damage, loss and/or inappropriate use of their computers.
All JA schools will be following this fee schedule for damages on devices:
This fee schedule was approved by the JA Board of Education on 12/13/2021 and is supported by Board Policy that states: “users are personally responsible and liable” for use of district technology and that users are “fully liable for damage or loss” of equipment while being used by the student. (ref: 7540.03 Student Technology Acceptable Use and Safety and 7530 Lending of Board-Owned Equipment)
We encourage you to have conversations with your children regarding the resources provided, and general safety and security on the web. This is a great place to start: Common Sense Media.
Thank you for your assistance as we strive to keep the laptop computers working properly and in the hands of students.
