NEW ALBANY PRIMARY SCHOOL
February 26, 2024
IT'S READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK AT THE PRIMARY SCHOOL!
This week, the students and staff at NAPS are celebrating Right to Read Week with fun and engaging activities each day to celebrate reading. Friday, March 1st, we will conclude this special week with a student book parade where students will parade through the NAPS hallways celebrating words and reading with their peers and teachers. Please see the attached flier for parade expectations and ideas.
SOLAR ECLIPSE ON MONDAY, APRIL 8
Please be aware that there is no school on Monday, April 8, 2024 (school calendar). Even though school is not in session during the Ohio total solar eclipse, we do have access to solar eclipse glasses for each student in case you want to supervise your child’s participation in viewing the eclipse. Each student will bring home one pair of glasses in March which they can keep. The glasses have the ISO transmission requirements printed on them for your review before deciding on their use.
EAGLE’S NEST JOB OPPORTUNITIES
The Eagle’s Nest before and after school care program is seeking applications for employment for this school year. To learn more about the Before/After Care Activity Specialist position, click here.
EAGLE SUMMER DAY CAMP INFORMATION
The K-6 Eagle Summer Day Camp program is being discontinued. The New Albany area provides a number of child care options for those of you who need supervision for your children this summer. While we cannot recommend or endorse any specific center, we have compiled a list of local options to assist you in starting your selection process which you can access by clicking here. Questions can be directed to Director of Elementary Education Scott Emery at emery.3@napls.us.
ONLINE REPORT CARDS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL FAMILIES
To view your child’s second trimester report card, please access your PowerSchool account by clicking here and choosing the option “Report Card”. The report card option is only available in a web browser, not the PowerSchool mobile app. Any item left blank is a skill not taught or assessed during this trimester. Any item that includes an asterisk (*) designates a mark based on an individualized curriculum. If you have a PowerSchool account and cannot recall your username or password, please contact Michael Weisenberger in our technology department at weisenberger.1@napls.us. Mr. Weisenberger can also assist with other issues that arise.
PRIMARY SCHOOL WELCOMES AUTHOR JOSH FUNK IN MAY
Our annual author visit will take place on May 8, 9, and 10. Mr. Josh Funk will speak to the students about his writing process in creating stories. The books he will use as part of his visit are from his How To Code series, It’s Not A Fairytale series, and the Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast series. After spring vacation you will receive information on how to order a signed book by Mr. Funk for your child.
