Willow Parent Bulletin # 28

Spring

I'm sure it's coming... one of these days. In the building, we are already headed in that directions. Our creative focus has shifted to flowers, birds, bunnies and chicks. The Kindergarten classes will get their chick eggs after we return from break. The garden club has been planting vegetables inside to be prepared for when the weather breaks outside. I can definitely say we have been busy like beavers becase I learned all about them in one of the classes this week!

Next week is the last week before spring break! It's also spirit week. Your Wildcat can participate by either wearing the colors or the outfit of the day. Once we return, we have about 8 weeks of school left. Your child's daily attendance is imperative, as is getting him/her/them to school on time. Students should be entering the building at 8 AM each day. Classes start the day doing collaborative, team building type activities first thing. Participating is important for your child's social and emotional growth. We know mornings can be hard, but we need everyone here!

Once the better weather hits, we have a lot of extra bodies on the playground, especially after school. Please help us keep an eye out and report any concerning behavior. We want the playground to remain a fun and safe area for our students.

When students follow the Willow Way: Be Safe, Be Caring and Be Ready, they can get sent to the office with a positive referral. These students get a certificate and a Willow Wow worth 5 wows! Keep it up, Wildcats!

You get a survey...and you get a survey...

There are currently two surveys out with which we need your help. One is at the building level and called the 5 Essentials.The other is for the entire district and called long Strategic Planning. Both of them take your anonymous input so we know what we are doing well and areas in which we can improve. You can click the title below to access each one.

We've given incentives for the 5 Essentials building survey... stuffy day, popcicles and pig kissing depending on the percentage we get. At the other buildings, the students also take the 5 Essentials, however, at Willow the students are not required by the state.

HF Baseball's "Pay It Forward" program

We had the fun opportunity to have 4 HF baseball players and Coach McCarthy come to visit room 29 this week. BIG thanks to Seniors Alijah Rainey, Isaiah "Zay" White, Evan Nieter and Tommy Haggerty who came to work with our students. With our students, they brainstormed ways to be kind and taught our Wildcats how sticking together makes us stronger. Every Wildcat earned a sticker from "Coach Mac" for sharing their ideas.
