Recognition
One of the goals of the Board of Education is to recognize the accomplishments of those who play a significant role in advancing Hawthorn’s tradition of excellence. This includes teachers, staff, students and community members.

Superintendent's Report
The highlights from the Superintendent's Report include:
The Hawthorn Education Association (HEA) donated $1,236 to the Hawthorn Food Pantry, aiding community needs, including support for Mundelein tornado victims.
HEA funded scholarships for two Hawthorn alumni.
The Hawthorn PTO provided outstanding support during Teacher Appreciation Week, creating a joyful and positive environment with their generous donations.
Hawthorn Middle North and South have been honored by Project Lead The Way for their exceptional STEM education through the PLTW Gateway curriculum.
Nearly every school in Hawthorn District 73 has been listed among the top elementary and middle schools in Lake County by Chicago Parent.
94% of the district’s families have completed early registration for the upcoming school year, with a final registration event scheduled for May 29 at the district office to assist remaining families.

The highlights from the Measuring Whole Child Success presentation include:
- Comprehensive Student Development: Hawthorn District 73's Whole Child Success initiative, part of the strategic plan Goal 4, is dedicated to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional well-being of every student.
- Implementation of ASCD Framework: The district has effectively implemented the ASCD Whole Child Framework, focusing on five key tenets—Healthy, Safe, Engaged, Supported, and Challenged—to enhance educational outcomes through research-based methods and stakeholder collaboration.
- Progress and Future Plans: The Whole Child Wellness Committee, comprising diverse district stakeholders, has successfully established and applied robust metrics to measure the success of each tenet, paving the way for future assessments and continuous improvement in student well-being.
