Celebrating "GRADitude"
November is a perfect time to celebrate an "attitude of gratitude." One way to do this is to consider making a donation to the Loyola Food Pantry. The pantry provides non-perishable food, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and other items to fellow Loyola students who are experiencing food insecurity or financial need.
Place your donations, no matter how small, in the baskets located in the Grad Work Room in Fernandez 031. We will be collecting until early December.
Donation Items for the Loyola Food Pantry
- Non-perishable food in jars, cans, or individually sealed packets
- Sauces
- Soups
- Beans / Vegetables
- Cereal boxes
- Hygiene products
- Snacks
We will also have a box for cool-weather clothing, such as
- Scarves
- Hats
- Gloves
- Coats
If you are in need and would like to access the Loyola Food Pantry yourself, please contact sswp@loyola.edu.
Sharing "GRADitude"
Continuing this theme, we invite you to post what you may be grateful for on the whiteboards in our Grad Work Room in Fernandez 031, or send your thoughts to gso@loyola.edu. We can add your thoughts to our whiteboard wall.
By the way, have you noticed that we have so many whiteboards, but no markers? Well, your GSO has noticed this, too, and you will now find a supply of whiteboard markers there for your use in the room.
Graduate Student Happy Hour
The Loyola Notre Dame Library is hosting a graduate student happy hour onsite on Wednesday, December 4th from 5-7pm. Enjoy free refreshments (beer, wine, & non-alcoholic options) & hors-d’oeuvres, and if you wish, get some grad-level academic writing tips with the Loyola University and Notre Dame of Maryland University Writing Centers.
Pumpkin Decorating Contest Results!
We received some wonderful submissions to our Pumpkin Decorating Contest last month. Our winner is Millicent Hendrix, a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program, who has received a GSO swag bag. Thanks to all who participated. Do you have ideas for future fun contests? Let us know.

Our friends from the Counseling Center share this message on anxiety and stress this month:
