Calvary's Preschool Newsletter
January 2025
A note from the director:
Hello families,
Happy New Year! We are excited to welcome in a new year at Calvary, and for all of the fun and learning headed our way.
December was a quick and busy month at preschool. Classes explored themes like hibernation, seasonal changes, and holiday traditions, all while celebrating the Christmas season with class parties and festivities. We collected new toys for Chester County families through the Prepared to Thrive organization. We ended with our annual school-wide Christmas program. Thank you to all families for celebrating with us!
In January, we will welcome the arrival of Winter while exploring our curriculum theme, "snowy science." We'll learn about how animals behave in winter both in our own backyard, and far away in polar climates. Through our character focus, "courage," we will practice ways to show courage and be brave in our daily lives. As we move toward the end of the month, we will also learn about healthy habits and keeping our bodies and minds healthy and safe. To introduce the arrival of dental health month in February, we will enjoy a visit from Miss Gina the dental hygienist, who will teach students about keeping their teeth healthy and strong.
Healthy Teeth Drive: In honor of the National Day of Service for MLK Day, our students will collect, sort, and organize new (in package) toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, and mouth wash for the West Chester Food Cupboard. They will create artwork and cards to be sent with our contribution! the collection will run from January 21st-27th.
Martin Luther King Day School Closure: Calvary Lutheran Preschool will be CLOSED on Monday, January 20th, for MLK Day. We will re-open on Tuesday, January 21st.
