Paul Banks Elementary
December 2022
A Note From Our Principal
Dear Paul Banks Families,
Coming off the Thanksgiving holiday, I have been reflecting on all that I am thankful for. Quickly, my thoughts bring me to Paul Banks-we have such a dynamic school that serves the students and families of our community. Our students’ smiles and enthusiasm for learning are gems. Our entire staff inspires me with their dedication. Our PTA is incredibly supportive and effective. Our families are simply the best.
November was filled with all sorts of awesome experiences in our classrooms. Renowned author Shelley Gill visited our school to talk about being an author and the Iditarod. Second graders dissected owl pellets. First graders studied land formations and created art projects to reflect their learning. Kindergarteners studied machines in kaleidoscope. Joy and laughter emanated from our preschool. From kindergarten through second grade, students continued learning to play their violins. And our students prepared for the winter musical performance. Needless to say, Paul Banks has been buzzing with learning and discovery.
Our student book reviews have also been a highlight as has our PTA sponsored Little Free Library. When you walk in our main entrance, please take a couple of books home with you, and if you have books to share, drop some off the next time. Let’s collectively share in the wonders of reading!
It has been such a delight to celebrate our students every other week during our Spotlight assemblies. Each teacher highlights two different students who are recognized and celebrated in front of the entire school. What has stood out to me is the emphasis placed on growth mindset and being kind friends. Both of these traits are important life skills for all kids to celebrate.
Finally, I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and enjoy the winter break. As always, if you have any questions, concerns or celebrations, don’t hesitate to reach out.
All the best,
Sean Campbell
