Clyde Erwin Elementary School
Dr. Patterson's Weekly Update
Eagle Pride: Video by Dr. Patterson
February 9, 2020
Happy Sunday Eagles!
It has been another fantastic week at Clyde Erwin! Students have been challenged in the classrooms with problem-solving, original writing, debating, and cooperative learning. Teachers are planning lessons with hands-on activities, experiments, and movement. We have exciting stuff happening all over campus!
Congratulations to Riley Evans, our school spelling bee winner for 2020! Riley will represent our school at the Onslow County Spelling Bee on March 5 at Parkwood Elementary School. We are so proud of you Riley!
Students are already working toward our next PBIS celebration, which is on March 6. Students must have 125 points and no Think Sheets or office referrals to attend. It will be a Game Day Party, and students may bring board games from home to play with friends. We will also have multiple games and stations set up for students. We welcome any parent volunteers who would like to help during the celebration.
Valentine Grams
Valentine Grams will continue to be on sale through Wednesday, February 12. Grams are $1.00 or $3.00 with a stuffed animal. Valentine Grams will be delivered to students just prior to dismissal on Friday, February 14. All proceeds benefit Ms. Corie as she continues to undergo cancer treatments. Thank you for your support of Ms. Corie and her family!
Attendance
THANK YOU to our families who make it a priority to get students to school every day and on time. We average over 20 tardies a day at Clyde Erwin. Additionally, we have students who are tardy almost daily and checked out early on a consistent basis. Please keep in mind that our teachers teach 8:00am - 2:45pm daily. Every minute of instructional time counts. Did you know that if a student is 15 minutes tardy every day, that equals almost 44 hours of instructional time lost? Fifteen minutes may not seem like much, but it adds up quickly.
Talent Show
Our talent show for 2020 will be held on the evening of March 5 at 5:30pm. Doors will open at 5:00pm. Tryouts have been completed, and practices are beginning. Thank you to our Talent Show Committee for all of your work so far! We have the most awesome staff members! We are looking forward to the best talent show ever! Mark your calendars!
Box Tops
Thank you to all who donated Box Tops! We will be collecting until the beginning of May. Please continue to collect Box Tops and turn them in by April. Box Tops provide extra funding for our school.
THANK YOU for being a Box Tops Hero!
