Wrapping Up 2024
December 2024 Newsletter
December is upon us
Greetings, Panther families and community! November has flown right by and we're in the final month of 2024. As we wrap up this year, I wanted to express my appreciation for our students, staff and community for making White Pass such a special place to be!
First semester is winding down, and we want our students to keep up the good attendance over the next two months. As I told the incoming 7th graders in August, the secret to success in high school...SHOW UP to class! Please remember to call or send a note if your student is absent; and remind your student that they are expected to make up any work missed during an absence. Students have the same number of days that they were gone to turn in any missed work. Please encourage your student to check with teachers about missed work right away after an absence so they don't lose out on the chance to turn in that work.
We are seeing a definite change for the better in student attention and engagement in classes with all classes using the phone caddies. The phone is still available for the student in case of emergency, but we do want the students focused on the learning and not the distractions that come with phones. If students aren't able to follow this rule, the phone is kept in the main office until the end of the day.

Class of 2025: Senior Information
Senior Project has changed! This important part of the senior year will still include components to get students ready for life after high school (resume, interview skills, a presentation). All seniors are enrolled in "Senior Seminar", a new class designed to give students the time and support needed to complete the Senior Project, but also to meet the new state graduation requirement about Financial Literacy and "adulting" skills. Watch for more details from your seniors!
Look for the Senior Calendar of Events in January; this will have all the important events for the final semester of your high school career.
Mrs Foley is a fabulous resource for all things for life after high school. Not sure what your plan is? She can help you discover interests and how those tie into post-secondary plans and careers. Stop by the Career Center for help with applications, resumes, scholarships and more!
The Senior Class voted to pay for caps, gowns, stoles and longevity cords this year.
June 6, MANDATORY graduation practice
June 7, Graduation!
Resources
Mrs Foley in the GEARUP office has a supply of clothing, shoes and personal hygiene items. This is free and confidential; your student can stop by to see her or the office staff if anything is needed. All of our teachers have access to school supplies as well.
Lewis County Public Health's quarterly newsletter has a lot of good information about resources and events, including markets, holiday events and more. Check it out!
