Note From The Office
Attendance & Tardiness:
It is so important that your student is at school and on time every single day. Class begins at 9:00am so if you bring your students to school, please arrive before 9:00am if possible. Tardiness costs your student crucial instructional time. If your student is absent please email attendance.ecoleken@columbus.k12.oh.us or call (614) 365-5502 by 9:30am.
Transportation Changes:
If your student will be going home a different way than usual (i.e. usually a bus rider but a caregiver is picking up today) our secretaries must be informed of these changes BEFORE 2:30pm. You may email attendance.ecoleken@columbus.k12.oh.us or call (614) 365-5502.
Please send your students bundled up!
Make sure your students have gloves, hats and heavy winter coats for school. Even if they don't necessarily need them during their morning routine, stick them in pockets or backpacks. It's also a good idea to write names on tags if you can. We send students outside for recess as often as possible and they will also be outside for dismissal, dress them warm! If your student is in need of any cold weather items please contact our school counselor, Norma Ortega at nortega7812@columbus.k12.oh.us
Building-wide Expectations
As we return to school we will be re-focusing on what is expected of students here at Kenwood. We utilize a Positive Behavior Intervention Support System (PBIS) to recognize the positive contributions and actions of students through research based practices. At Kenwood this includes rewarding using French in the classroom, recognizing positive behavior, and providing supports for children’s varied learning and behavioral needs at school.
We recognize the good, growth, and the power of perseverance!
Kenwood students are:
Respectueux (Respectful)
Responsable (Responsible)
Serviable (Helpful)
Gentil (Kind)
Our focus for January will be Respectueux & Gentil
Ask your student how they are being respectful & kind at Kenwood. Ask them how their individual classroom teachers recognize their positive behaviors and look over & review the Voice Levels chart.
Click the link below to review examples of each of our expectations in action.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Sign-In Procedures
Every volunteer that comes into the building during school hours needs to sign in via the Raptor system (the computer in the foyer) You will need to have a valid ID (a driver's license or state ID card) with you every single time. You will scan the barcode on the back of your ID and follow the steps on the screen. A visitor sticker with your picture will print out for you to wear visibly for your entire time in the building. To sign out all you need to do is remove your sticker and scan the barcode on the sticker at the same computer. This will automatically sign you out!
We appreciate all of your help and efforts to keep our school a safe place for everyone!
Volunteer Thursdays
We are looking for volunteers to help complete teacher projects (copying, cutting, laminating, etc) on Thursday mornings from 9:30to 11:30!
